AVP, Accounting(Preferred Managed Care Experience)

Job Summary:
The Associate Vice President, Accounting role is responsible for oversight of critical accounting functions and related control structure. They will provide status of the financial condition of the company by collecting, interpreting and reporting key financial data and analyses, immediately alerting executive management of any identified reporting and control issues that arise.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements to state department of insurance, Medicaid administrator, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), or other regulators
- Ensure financial stewardship for CareSource’s entities by establishing, monitoring and enforcing financial policies and procedures and internal controls, that includes leadership for ensuring the integrity and security of the general ledger and reporting system
- Enforce compliance with MAR, regulatory and other organization requirements
- Prepare for and timely supports all financial audits (external and internal) as required and appropriate
- Proactively research existing and new legislation, changes in financial accounting standards, tax statutes, and NAIC statutory requirements to advises management of actions and potential opportunities/risks
- Ensure and assess accurate and timely implementation of accounting and reporting functions for new programs or program changes
- Identify accounting department system/technology opportunities, limitations and gaps
- Oversight of statutory financial statement filings for regulated entities
- Ensure transparency of financial information as necessary to the Company
- Hire, train, develop and appraise staff effectively, ensuring a strong, competent and talented team of high integrity finance professionals, as well as development and adherence to departmental budget
- Fiduciary duty to safeguard the financial assets of the Company
- Perform any other job duties as requested
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent work experience required
- Business related post-graduate degree is preferred
- Twelve (12) years of related experience in accounting/finance is required
- Eight (8) years of management experience is required
- Experience with companies that have both for-profit and not-for-profit entities is preferred
- Managed care or healthcare experience is preferred
- Previous experience in a large ERP system is preferred
- Experience with business combinations and integrations is preferred
Competencies, Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiar with a variety of accounting concepts, practices and procedures
- Excellent understanding of GAAP and FAS requirements
- A proven track record of achievement and integrity
- Strong managerial and team-building skills, with proven track record of hiring and developing high performers
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

- Excellent PC skills, including advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Licensure and Certification:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), other equivalent certification or six (6) years or more of health care insurance accounting experience is required
Working Conditions:
- General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- May be required to travel occasionally
Compensation range $150,000-$300,000. CareSource takes into consideration a combination of a candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role, and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level. In addition to base compensation, you may qualify for a bonus tied to company and individual performance.
