The Department of Economic Security, Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) strengthens Arizona communities by bridging and minimizing gaps to employment and independence.
DES is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Auditor 3 with the Quality Assurance and Integrity Administration (QAIA). This position is responsible for performing highly complex auditing work and is responsible for developing, implementing, and refining the approach to audit monitoring. This position will focus primarily on the programmatic quality reviews of specific DERS programs which include but are not limited to the Office of Apprenticeship, the Local Workforce Development Boards Eligible Training Providers, and other required and partner programs under WIOA. This position will primarily focus on auditing cases receiving case management and other related programs.
Travel is required to attend off-site meetings, training, or conferences.
Travel will be required for State business. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on State business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on State business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code [A.A.C.] R2-10-207.11).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Complete DERS audits, specific to functional area, develop responses, and track implementation of suggested recommendations to ensure case management compliance. Assure compliance with State and Federal statutes, regulations, and procedures. Assist with strategic work plan development. Interpret and apply established guidelines.
• Maintain an accountability system to track progress on performance indicators, measures and action plans.
• Develop detailed spreadsheets, charts and databases to monitor time lines and compliance with action work plan assignments resulting from findings.
• Examine and analyze statistical data, work procedures, methods and make recommendations for enhancement.
• Extract case data information from automated system to obtain sample information; enter results as necessary.
• Contribute to the development of operational and performance strategy in cooperation with DERS Leadership. Deliver presentations on program status, accomplishments, problems and objectives. Provide training to colleagues on enhanced procedures.
• Prepare written documents,reports and executive summaries regarding audits; applying judgment, interpretation and discretion skills. Respond to various correspondence from DERS Executive Management or Administration Leadership.
• Knowledge of Federal and State rules and regulations governing federally-funded programs.
• Knowledge of audit and evaluation tools and/or processes.
• Knowledge of strategy and program goal development.
• Skills in written and oral communication necessary to develop presentations and instructional material.
• Skills in using automated programs for research, analysis and work management.
• Skills in advanced organization; effective management to handle multiple projects and/or tasks at the same
time.
• Ability to analyze and coordinate activities, establish priorities, develop procedures, and evaluate program compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Ability to summarize and analyze large amounts of information and data, to identify trends in material being reviewed, and to present quantitative and/or qualitative information along with recommendations.
• Ability to compose correspondence, develop reports, and create position papers that call for discretion and judgment; replying to inquiries, presenting, or requesting information.
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
• Experience in formal written communications; white or position papers.
• Experience data analysis and compilation.
• Have at least two (2) years’ experience as an Auditor or equivalent.
• Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

Retirement:State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
