What our Client is looking for on this Project

Dedicated Atlassian support engineer. Focused on the client’s initiatives administering and building the Atlassian tools suite (Jira, Confluence on the Data Center platform). You will have exposure to an exciting enterprise environment that supports internal and external customers. Our ideal candidate is a fast learning, clear communicator with solid experience in following disciplines:

Day to Day

  • Manage user accounts, clean up unused content (spaces, repos, projects), handle app/plugin evaluations, and oversee change requests for Atlassian tools.
  • Focus on processes and administration and JIRA information based on custom workflow agreed with business users.
  • Review and respond to Atlassian vulnerability and bug reports based on severity and relevance; set up and maintain dev instances for safe testing of upgrades and new features.
  • Collaborate with administrators of other dev tools to integrate systems with Atlassian products and implement requested customizations or additional functionality.
  • Analyze content usage and user access to ensure appropriate permissions, maintaining both usability and security across environments.
  • Partner with end users and leadership to plan tool enhancements, and provide support coverage between 8am–8pm PST (8-hour shift starting at 8am or 12pm).

Requirements

Atlassian Administration

  • Configure, customize, and maintain Atlassian tools (like Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) to meet the organization's evolving needs. This includes workflow creation, permission management, plugin/app administration, and resolving system or user issues efficiently.
  • Analyze team processes and tool usage to recommend and implement improvements. This ensures the tools support productivity, align with best practices, and scale with the organization.
  • Diagnose and resolve user issues across Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.), often digging into configurations, logs, and integrations. Being able to perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes—not just temporary workarounds—is key

Stakeholder Management and Consulting

  • Active listening to understand user needs, and communicate solutions clearly across both technical and non-technical audiences. Translating complex problems into understandable steps and ensuring a smooth support experience is essential.
  • Lead and contribute to consulting engagements by assessing client needs, delivering tailored Atlassian solutions, and providing best-practice recommendations to optimize workflows, tool configurations, and team performance.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across technical and business teams, ensuring alignment on requirements, clear communication of updates, and successful adoption of Atlassian tools and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience supporting the Atlassian stack (JIRA, Confluence, etc.), with a deep understanding of its configuration, administration, and optimization.
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset—capable of taking direction from a team lead and independently driving tasks to completion with minimal oversight.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate client support processes and assets, identifying opportunities for improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Experienced in root cause analysis, with a focus on implementing sustainable solutions that address underlying systemic issues.
  • Adept at resolving user issues by proposing and applying changes to workflows, configurations, and tool settings to enhance usability and effectiveness.
  • Excellent active listening skills, with a strong ability to understand, interpret, and respond to client needs across varying technical backgrounds.
  • Comfortable using tools such as Google Workspace, Kibana, Tableau, Zendesk, and other industry-standard platforms to support cross-functional initiatives.
