The AVP, Adoption Strategy and Operations is responsible for shaping our vision, strategy, and approach to navigating the national landscape of core state adoptions, maximizing our market opportunities, and ensuring our resources are effectively allocated across core textbook adoption initiatives.
The position reports to the VP, Adoptions and Proposals, and works cross functionally to achieve goals.
The impact you'll have:
- Develop a comprehensive strategy for core textbook adoptions that aligns with the company’s long-term goals and growth objectives.
- Analyze state adoption cycles, product roadmap alignment, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions and identify high-potential opportunities.
- Coordinate with product development, partner impact, sales, marketing, and government relations teams to ensure preparedness, alignment, and execution on high-impact adoptions.
- Lead the team responsible for the day-to-day operations related to core textbook adoptions, including project management, state review processes, compliance with state requirements, and internal workflow optimization.
- Lead the development of state-specific playbooks to guide strategy.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the success of adoption strategies and campaigns.
- Work with VP to develop annual adoptions budget and manage expenses to budget throughout the year.
- Develop annual team goals and key performance indicators, ensuring alignment between strategic company objectives and day-to-day team operations.
- Mentor and manage a geographically diverse, remote staff, provide regular feedback and performance evaluations to recognize achievements, and identify areas for improvement.
- Set the tone for team culture and actively seek to foster inclusion and belonging for team members , resulting in a collaborative and supportive work environment conducive to productivity and growth.
- Empower team members by delegating appropriately while providing opportunities for skill development and growth.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.

- Proven track record of developing and executing successful strategies for textbook adoptions and educational materials.
- Strong understanding of state education standards and adoption processes.
- Proven team building and personnel management skills, including the ability to lead by example, listen to diverse perspectives, and serve as a unifying motivator and true collaborator.

- Proficiency with Word, Excel, Adobe Pro, SharePoint, and other standard business applications.
Required Education and Experience:
- 10+ years of professional experience
- 7+ years of experience in the K–12 educational publishing/edtech industry
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Benefits and Pay Range:
Pay Range – This role’s range is $110,500-$196,500. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that Curriculum Associates considers in making compensation decisions based on our Compensation Philosophy. Actual base pay within that range will vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At Curriculum Associates, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances for each case. This role is also eligible to participate in the company bonus plan. The Company recognizes that minimum wage varies by location and will ensure all compensation decisions comply with applicable state and local laws.
