About the Department

The Cornell University Office of the University Registrar (OUR) implements and monitors many academic and administrative policies in coordination with academic units, departments, colleges, and schools to facilitate faculty teaching and student learning. The Office of the University Registrar acts as the steward of academic and student information. The Office of the Registrar champions the constant renewal of student information systems, adapts operations to changing academic needs, federal, state, and institution policies, and evaluates administrative processes for services improvements. 

The Opportunity

Reporting to the University Registrar, the Associate University Registrar, Compliance reviews and interprets federal and state regulations that impact OUR and the constituents the office serves, and collaborates to implement compliant business processes and policies as appropriate. This position partners with various offices across campus including Financial Aid and Student Employment, Institutional Research and Planning, the Bursar’s Office, the Office of Enrollment Compliance and Design, Athletics, University Audit, University Compliance, and Cornell’s colleges and schools to develop strategies and policies that foster a comprehensive compliance program and supports Cornell’s compliance with federal and state regulations.

The responsibilities of the Associate University Registrar, Compliance include:

  • Develop and manage the implementation of compliance plans as a part of an overall compliance program.
  • Proactively educate staff on compliance regulations.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and analysis for the dependencies between business processes, information systems, and data as they relate to compliance.
  • Ensure business processes are documented to support business continuity.
  • Oversee enrollment reporting to external entities, including but not limited to: meeting reporting requirements as outlined by the US Department of Education and providing enrollment data to third party servicers managing critical processes, such as the National Student Clearinghouse.
  • Serve as the NCAA and Ivy League eligibility officer, overseeing all functions of the NCAA and Ivy League athletic eligibility requirements.
  • Oversee all Veterans Administration benefits eligibility and reporting functions, including certification of all students utilizing veteran benefits.
  • Provide leadership and oversee OUR’s Compliance team.

This position will be considered for a fully remote work location within the United States, with occasional travel to campus. However, we would be delighted to welcome applicants interested in fully onsite or hybrid work arrangements.
