The Associate Risk Management Consultant II position is to provide risk management services that focus on supporting the Workers’ Compensation and Property Casualty strategies that align with the company’s financial goals while improving fundamental risk management skills. 

Please Note: Travel is required within a territory in and around San Diego County to visit policy holders from a variety of industries such as food processing, manufacturing, and construction.  

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Provides risk assessment services for workers’ compensation/property casualty clients and business partners.

  • Identifies and quantifies workplace safety exposures, investigates cause/effect of losses, and reviews & develops hazard/safety management programs.
  • Identifies and quantifies property and liability exposures in support of the Commercial Package lines.
  • Provides safety training and education to clients and assists with accident investigations.
  • Communicates with Underwriting, Claims, Agent/Producers, and peers to discuss insurance industry issues and safety services.
  • Conducts office ergonomic assessments.
  • At the completion of the training program, Associate II will be able to service medium to large size accounts and have a working knowledge and understanding of OSHA, NIOSH, NFPA and other relevant safety standards.
  • Schedules, visits, and performs assessments independently. 

Continually upgrades knowledge and expertise as to the latest loss control techniques via schooling, seminars, and loss control orientated organizations. 

  • Successful completion of Associate in Insurance (AINS) designation.
  • Successful completion of assigned training from Associate Curriculum.
  • After training demonstrates understanding of safety, property, liability, and OSHA standards as demonstrated by scoring greater than 50% on Risk Management Competency Test.
  • Completion of Safety and Health Specialist Certificate or approved designation within required time period.
  • Learn the following systems – Salesforce, SNAP, PowerBI, Exponent.
  • Obtain Microsoft Specialists Level Certifications – Word, Excel, and/or PowerPoint.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a 4-year college preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of safety or insurance experience required (2 years preferred).
  • Successful execution of ICW Group RM Associate I, CCC or equivalent role.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

Graduate Safety Professional (GSP) preferred. Associate will be required to enroll in safety classes/course work to promote and further their education toward becoming a Risk Management Consultant. Successful completion of the SHSC (or comparable certification) is required for advancement (within Risk Management) while in this role. Valid Driver’s License required. 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 

Ability to work in a team environment. Strong communication skills (verbal & written). Commitment to continuing safety education, safety-related class work, seminars and training completed annually. Superior organizational, time management and customer service skills. Proficiency related to PC and Software or systems; Microsoft Office Suite; Excel; PowerPoint; Outlook. Requires moderate to extensive level of car travel. Ability to effectively present information in English and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to read and write in English. Ability to interpret professional journals, or governmental regulations. Bi-lingual capabilities are a plus. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Understand basic chemistry and physics and be able to solve basic problems when provided the formula. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit and walk.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Requires a level of vision that permits both day and night driving.  Ability to climb ladders at job sites and in plant facilities is required.  Sitting at airports and on aircraft due to various travel requirements and delays is necessary.  This position includes sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle for various lengths of time

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position consists of approximately 50% field work and reporting work independently and occasionally with supervisors and peers in order to provide continuous feedback: 30% education/school work, and 20% Support Team work. This position may require working out of the home as well as the office. Position requires visits to client's locations where meetings are held, tours made of the premises are given and testing is performed or witnessed. Routine travel by auto and periodic overnight travel involving both auto and air. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to a variety of industrial equipment, personnel, materials, and operations, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.  There is the potential for exposure to environmental hazards.  The employee may occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places. Employee may be required to climb ladders or fixed stairs to elevated or depressed levels at risk sites or construction sites. The noise level in the work environment varies depending on the nature of the insured's operations.  The noise level can range from minimal to very loud. Employee must wear various Personal Protective Equipment such as: hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection and/ or respirators in dust producing operations as needed for the specific hazards at the locations.

The current range for this position is

$61,979.26 - $97,736.56

This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses.  If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education and the location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
