About the Role
Nature Geoscience (www.nature.com/ngeo) is seeking an Associate or Senior Editor to represent the climate science research community. As part of Nature Geoscience’s international editorial team, the editor will support the journal’s coverage of the various fields within this broad discipline, including handling primary research papers and developing the reviews and opinion sections of the journal. The position is ideal for researchers who love science and enjoy reading papers outside their chosen area of research.
This permanent position is offered New York, Philadelphia, Beijing, Shanghai, or Nanjing office on a full-time basis. Hybrid working pattern; note that fully remote work is not offered.
Role Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will work closely with the Nature Geoscience team on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection, and overseeing the peer review process.
- Commissioning and editing Reviews, opinion pieces, and News & Views, and writing for the journal.
- They will liaise extensively with the scientific community and travel to international conferences.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
- A PhD (or equivalent) in an area of modern climate science, for example atmospheric science, hydroclimate, climate dynamics, cryospheric science or oceanography. However, strong candidates from other areas of the geosciences will also be considered. Postdoctoral experience and broad training will be an advantage. Editorial experience is not required, but applicants with previous editorial experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered for Senior Editor.
