The Role:

The Associate Manager of Accounting will report directly to the Senior Manager of Accounting and support the North America General Ledger (GL) team at KAYAK/OpenTable. The primary responsibilities will be to work with the team on the monthly close process, perform variance analysis, manage two direct reports, and continuously improve processes. We're looking for someone with a solid understanding of US GAAP, who displays a strong sense of ownership and accountability, and who possesses an eagerness to learn and execute. In this role, you will:

• Assist in managing the monthly close process for the North America GL team
• Manage several different accounting areas including but not limited to: cash, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, professional fees, payroll and commission entries and accruals
• Oversee and manage payroll accounting and liaise with the Payroll team
• Review and analyze monthly financial statements for the relevant areas of responsibility
• Assist in preparation and review of monthly balance sheet and P&L fluctuation analyses for the relevant areas of responsibility
• Manage two direct reports by reviewing their work, providing timely feedback and supporting their career growth
• Review monthly, quarterly and annual balance sheet reconciliations in FloQast, our close management system    
• Provide suggestions for improvement to maximize accuracy and efficiency
• Assist with various ad hoc projects and implement suggested improvements
