Job Description

The Associate Legal Counsel will play a key role on a small, collaborative legal team and work cross-functionally across the business. You'll report to the Senior Legal Counsel and manage a wide range of responsibilities, from NDAs and vendor contracts to internal policies and subpoena reviews. This is a great opportunity for a curious and adaptable attorney who enjoys working on diverse projects in a fast-moving environment.

What you’ll own and be responsible for:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts including vendor contracts, technology agreements, partnership agreements, and NDAs
  • Evaluating software tools and services, particularly those with AI-related functionality
  • Providing Legal oversight of vendor questionnaires and assisting with review of RFPs, RFIs, and other information requests from clients and prospects
  • Responding to subpoenas, UCC lien notices, and similar third-party legal requests
  • Maintaining and updating internal policies, including UDAAP, Privacy and Security policies and supporting related training initiatives in partnership with HR
  • Managing consumer data requests and providing guidance for internal data privacy inquiries
  • Handling ad hoc legal needs from HR, such as handbook updates and consulting agreements
  • Supporting marketing projects, such as press releases, white papers, and campaigns

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school; licensed and in good standing in your state of residence
  • 2–3 years of legal experience (in-house or fintech/payments background a plus)
  • Comfortable managing a high volume of diverse, detail-oriented workstreams
  • Strong communicator who can explain legal concepts clearly and concisely
  • Curious, collaborative, and comfortable working cross-functionally
  • Interest in technology, AI, privacy, security, and/or product-focused legal work
  • Ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Salary Range: $150,000 - 170,000
