About the Role

Abnormal Security’s Legal Department is looking for a world-class attorney to lead its commercial and go-to-market (GTM) legal function. 

Reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, you’ll provide pragmatic and business-minded legal support to stakeholders at all levels across multiple departments in a high-growth environment. You will ensure that we have outstanding processes, platforms, and tools in place to scale the commercial and GTM legal function as the company expands its product portfolio and geographical markets. In addition, you will have a seat at the table on the legal leadership team and will play an instrumental role in building and shaping the growing Abnormal Security legal team.

What you will do 

  • Lead and manage a team of commercial attorneys, providing mentorship, guidance, and support for high-quality and continuing improvement of legal services.
  • Own commercial legal process from intake, resourcing, and execution, meeting or exceeding internal service level objectives and KPI tracking; generate quarterly reports for executive staff
  • Provide strategic legal advice and support to the GTM teams to facilitate business growth
  • Advise on, negotiate, and close a range of contracts and transactions, ensuring that each is aligned with continually evolving legal playbooks
  • Efficient management of deal flow and personnel staffing
  • Work with Legal Ops to manage, design, and maintain all commercial transacting workflows in CLM platform -- each workflow should be specifically designed to capture approvals and metadata to support internal policies and KPI reporting
  • Update commercial legal playbooks on a regular release cadence
  • Collaborate with internal and external financial teams and auditors to recommend  contracting guidelines, policies, and escalations/exceptions processes to ensure deal structures and clauses support company booking and revenue recognition targets
  • Localize customer contract templates and processes to support international expansion to markets outside the United States, working with outside counsel as needed
  • Develop legal training programs to internal GTM stakeholders to promote legal awareness for and compliance across the organization (e.g. self-service, on-boarding/bootcamp).
  • Develop strategic roadmap, including budget and resourcing plans for the team’s development, process and systems deployment, hiring and training
  • Partner with internal teams and outside counsel as necessary to support and advise the cross-functional business GTM teams on establishing gating and best practices for selling access to current and new products in multiple markets 

Must Haves 

  • 12+ years combined law firm and in-house legal department experience, with a focus on commercial transactions, preferably in the technology or B2B SaaS industry, with relevant privacy experience 
  • JD / US law degree and bar admission in good standing in at least US one state
  • Proven leadership, effectively managing and developing legal teams, emphasizing strategic differentiation and high-quality execution
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to understand and balance legal risks with business objectives
  • Familiarity working across the globe, to support multiple time zones and cultures
  • Deep experience negotiating B2B SaaS and software license agreements, vendor/supplier contracts, and channel agreements for technology companies
  • Experience working in a start-up atmosphere is highly desirable (e.g. understanding of and/or experience with start-up specific milestones)
  • Proficiency with Google Docs, Gmail, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat,Salesforce, CLM, other Legal Ops tools, and Slack
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong relationships and work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct

Base salary range:$285,000—$310,000 USD Apply
