POSITION OVERVIEW:

Sequoia is seeking an experienced and proactive Associate Facilities Engineer to join our team at one of our key client sites. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, contractors, and visitors by managing safety programs and maintaining compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. The EHS Coordinator will support the client in creating a safe and productive work environment, while also contributing to the continued development and maintenance of corporate safety and sustainability initiatives for Sequoia. The position requires a hands-on, collaborative approach to fostering a safety-conscious culture across all levels of the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure all site activities comply with local, state, and federal EHS regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Assist in the development, execution, and maintenance of safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to the client’s specific operations.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and environmental practices. Ensure all team members are equipped with the knowledge to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards. Collaborate with client management to implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Lead investigations for accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions. Document findings and assist in the creation of action plans to prevent future occurrences.
  • Track and report on key EHS performance indicators. Prepare safety reports for the client’s management and regulatory agencies.
  • Support and, when needed, assist in developing and maintaining corporate sustainability initiatives related to waste management, resource efficiency, and environmental impact.
  • Coordinate and oversee emergency drills and response plans, ensuring the workforce is prepared for unforeseen events.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the safety culture by identifying gaps in current procedures, recommending solutions, and enhancing overall safety performance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Technical Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience in an EHS role, ideally within a manufacturing, laboratory, or facilities environment.
  • Proven experience managing safety and sustainability programs in a corporate or client-facing role.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to train and influence all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to identify risks and develop proactive measures to mitigate them.
  • Experience with safety management software and data management systems.
  • Certification in EHS-related programs (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, Certified Safety Professional (CSP)) is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent computer, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills and an integrated view of business/scientific issues.
  • Accountable and responsible individual to perform as intended for clients.
  • Willingness to travel to various clients when needed, with acceptable limitations during noted health pandemics or related constraints.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job, including moderate noise level, an indoor temperate environment, and light levels that are bright and conducive to minimal eye strain, typical for an office environment.

COMPENSATION: 

The expected salary range for this position is $73,000 to $88,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
