Position Description

The Associate Director, Technical Operations within Global Clinical Supply (GCS) is responsible for managing all aspects of equipment/facility project activities, and supporting infrastructure-related projects to establish, upgrade, and modernize Clinical Supply Operations (CSO) facilities. 

Specifically, this role will:

  • Monitor utilization of CSO facilities and drive the identification, acquisition, and conversion of additional space within the network for CSO use based on business need

  • Identify opportunities to leverage new technology to improve operations

  • Purchase, oversee qualification and installation, and release new equipment

  • Drive resolution of recurring issues with equipment/facilities within the network

  • Partner with business area to develop processes to enable new equipment/technology use

  • Partner with adjacent supply chain groups to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of process, and consistency in equipment utilization

  • Identify drive the harmonization of processes across sites to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of operations (incl. vendor processes)

  • Support our company's Permanent Inspection Readiness and Continuous Improvement expectations, and escalate inconsistency across sites for resolution

Position Qualifications:

  • Education Minimum Requirement: Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, or related field. 

Required Experience and Skills:

  • At least 7 years’ experience in an engineering, scientific, or operations role within the pharmaceutical industry.

    • Experience with pharmaceutical packaging (primary packaging of solid dosage forms, secondary packaging of vaccines/biologics, medical devices).

    • Strong compliance mindset and understanding of cGMP.

    • Demonstrated strong project leadership of cross-functional teams through project planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout phases to deliver successful completion to project target milestone dates.

    • Ability to work effectively across boundaries to build strong collaborative relations with other groups.

    • Demonstrated strategic ability to develop innovative solutions to undefined problems and business processes to meet the needs of key stakeholders and project sponsors.

    • Willing to constructively challenge the status quo and explore continuous improvement opportunities

    • Experience with Operational Excellence methodology e.g. Six Sigma and Lean methods principles and tools.

    • Strong abilities in Stakeholder Management and building and strengthening cross-functional networks

    • Excellent communication skills.

    • Experience with change management, investigations, and root cause analysis

Preferred Experience and Skill:

  • Experience in collaborations with vendors or other partners outside of our company

    • Experience with SAP or other production software.

    • Six Sigma certified Green or Black Belt.

    • Project management certification (e.g. PMP, CAPM) is also beneficial.
