The following position is to join our RTX Corporate Tax team.

RTX is looking for an Associate Director, Tax in RTX Corporation’s Tax department to lead the State Income Tax function. This is not an executive level role. This role can be fully remote or hybrid based in either Charlotte, NC, or Farmington, CT and is responsible for assisting, overseeing and coordinating key state income tax matters including reporting and compliance. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Tax, Reporting and Compliance for RTX Corporate Finance. The selected candidate will be required to work business hours that align with Eastern U.S. time.

What You Will Do:

  • With supervision by the VP of RTX Tax, Reporting & Compliance, the Associate Director of RTX State Income Tax will communicate, coordinate and collaborate with other members of the RTX Corporate and RTX Raytheon Tax Groups and the Business Functional Groups (e.g. – Controllers, Legal, Operations) concerning state income tax related tax and operational matters as well as support external co-source provider on state income tax on compliance matters.
  • Provide oversight, resource, and support for state income tax planning, reporting, compliance, and government accounting processes
  • Manage and review quarterly, plan, and year end state income tax provision computations and files, including, but not limited to, effective tax rates, deferred rates, and reserves
  • Manage and review priority state income tax returns and associated workpapers, estimates and extensions, notices, and apportionment packages
  • Assists global tax audit team with audits, protests, protective refund claims, and audit offsets.
  • Identify and implement state income tax refund opportunities and ensures accurate and timely implementation of tax law changes
  • Identify and quantify state income/franchise tax implications of planning and restructuring transactions.
  • Manage state income/franchise matters associated with acquisitions and dispositions and tax allocation for government accounting
  • Manage the reporting for reimbursable state income taxes to the government accounting team and FP&A
  • Required Qualifications

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across cross-functional teams and organizational levels.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills with the ability to work independently under pressure.

  • Skilled in synthesizing complex information, with proven leadership experience in developing and guiding teams.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • 15+ years of relevant state tax compliance and reporting experience, ideally within large international corporate or public accounting environments; state tax planning experience is a plus.
  • Advanced degree in Taxation, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or Law preferred; CPA designation is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems using strong accounting, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with a demonstrated ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and support strategic initiatives.
  • Effective communicator with strong organizational skills and a collaborative mindset; experience with CorpTax and Longview is a plus.

  • Remote: This position is currently designated as remote. However, the successful candidate will be required to work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. Territories). Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
