The Importance of the Role
The Associate Director, Patient Services is responsible for Patient Access Manager (PAM) duties and provides project management support on behalf of the patient services department for current and future products. This role is a remote position that provides personalized coordination of patient care using a multi-disciplinary team approach. The AD provides strategic guidance and direction for reimbursement, working closely with the Sarepta Case Managers, sales, field reimbursement specialists and payers. This position collaborates with the case managers and families to ensure efficient and expedited reviews of appeals, denials, external reviews and administrative hearings. Additionally, this role provides outreach to families and patients regarding reimbursement, appeals, and alternative coverage in conjunction with the Sarepta case management teamThe Opportunity to Make a Difference
- Lead Patient Access Work for assigned territories, along with the National Spanish speaking families by working with Sarepta case managers and reimbursement managers to identify patient cases requiring appeals; works with the team to determine best plan for appeals and coordinate steps to submit comprehensive appeal packages.
- Provide outreach to families and patients regarding reimbursement, appeals and alternative coverage in conjunction with the Sarepta case management team.
- Conduct 1:1 patient meetings, as necessary.
- Serve as Project Manager for key patient services initiatives including Commercial Co-Pay Program, PAP Program, Drug Safety Liaison, Marketing Support, Manage Departmental Practices and other Gene Therapy programs as needed.
- Lead daily/weekly Specialty Pharmacy calls to review cases and document latest updates from the SP’s as needed.
- In conjunction with the case manager and reimbursement managers provide HCP and staff with process and information for payer denials and appeals.
- Review cases with case managers; track activities, and update Patient CRM with case updates as appropriate.
- Work with marketing and reimbursement managers to recommend and implement improvements to reimbursement and appeals related materials.
- Assist Case Managers with calls to Spanish speaking families
- Participate in territory team meetings with cross functional partners to align priorities and responsibilities by territory and center.
- In conjunction with case managers & national account directors, monitor payer policy updates.
- Other related duties as required.
More about You
- Fluent in Spanish required
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 5 to 10 years of field experience or related case management experience in biotech industry required-preferably in orphan diseases.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve and collaborate in a team setting.
- Passion and compassion a must to assist families in overcoming barriers to therapy.
- Possess a key understanding of IV infusion coding and reimbursement within sites of care.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory and enforcement environments.
- Project Management experience for patient services programs such as Commercial Co-Pay, PAP Programs, Drug Safety, Hub Services, and other relevant programs.
- Demonstrate team-based skills and is able to network across boundaries.
- Embrace and adopt new technologies and techniques to support the business needs.
- Demonstrate active listening skills as a springboard for creating relevant value to Patients and DMD stakeholders.
- Product launch experience highly desired.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Embrace continuous learning/seeks knowledge.
- Valid driver’s license and in good standing.
- Ability to travel up to approximately 30%.
