Reporting to the Senior Director Value Evidence Strategy (CNS), the Associate Director of Outcomes Research (OR) is responsible for participation in the development of product specific integrated value evidence plan (IVEP) and their tactical execution across a variety of Central Nervous System products and its indications. You will ensure the successful implementation of assigned programs/projects through appropriate research design, project management, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of health economics outcomes research (HEOR) evidence to appropriate stakeholders. The Associate Director of OR ensures that outcomes and quality data are produced to ensure the scientific medical standing of the potential value and real-world impact of Otsuka products across the area of therapeutic interest for payers, healthcare providers, and patients and caregivers.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in development of product and indication specific Integrated Value Evidence Plan (IVEP) and lead such development under the guidance of Senior Director, Value Evidence Strategy.
  • Participate in and eventually lead the Value-Evidence Sub-Committee for assigned products and indications
  • Design and implement health economics and outcomes research studies globally that support the clinical, economic, and patient centered value propositions, as well as reimbursement requirements for Otsuka products and therapeutic areas of interest
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams as part of the Value Evidence Sub-committee including countries, regions, government affairs, market access, payer marketing, medical affairs and clinical development to define payer value proposition of Otsuka portfolio of products
  • Implement evidence generation research studies by either collaborating with internal Otsuka programmers and data analysts or via collaboration with external vendors and academic institutions
  • Support publication planning and execution coordinating with publication teams and Otsuka Scientific Communications personnel.
  • Support preparation of medical or payer advisory meetings to solicit feedback on Otsuka products and therapeutic areas specific disease impacts.
  • Identify and support the execution of projects that directly support the economic and quality strategy for Otsuka products
  • Evaluate the healthcare economic, outcomes and quality-related value of products/therapies vs. other therapies and/or interventions with data from clinical trials and/or epidemiologic studies and produce data and tools
  • Work with HCPs, payers and other appropriate organizations to uncover their evidence needs and to develop economic tools and models for such audiences
  • Assist stakeholder engagement members of Global Value and Real-World Evidence in developing patient and caregiver education and payer awareness materials on disease, unmet need, and quality of care
  • Support development and/or develop product dossiers and other projects that support different aspects of formulary submissions
  • Identify external stakeholders' needs for CNS and develop collaborative research agenda with key stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD or Master's in Health Economics, Outcomes Research, Health Services Research, Public Health or related discipline with at least 2 years related work experience for Ph.D/MD and 4 years related work experience for Master's degree.
  • Experience in outcomes research including dossier submissions for reimbursement and in design/development of pharmacoeconomic models.
  • Experience working with consumers of outcomes information
  • Knowledge of epidemiology, economics, psychometrics and medical writing
  • Strong expertise in non-interventional study designs and methodological considerations in the statistical analyses of such research designs
  • Strong understanding of the application and limitations of administrative claims data, electronic medical records data, hospital inpatient data, and patient or physician reported survey data
  • Independently develop research hypotheses, study protocols, and statistical analysis plans
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can deal with complex issues and relate to multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of customer/payer tool development and value dossiers
  • Experience working with and overseeing external contractors and vendors
  • Must possess a strong understanding of the health systems around the world
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills, problem solving abilities, and interpersonal skills required

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Willingness to travel to conferences, various corporate locations, and stakeholder meetings, including overnight trips.
  • Some international travel may be required.
  • Requires approximately 10% travel.

Minimum $160,530.00 - Maximum $240,005.00, plus incentive opportunity: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting salary for candidates hired to perform the work. Other elements may be used to determine actual salary such as the candidate’s job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in role.
