Cornell University is seeking an enthusiastic and strategic Associate Director of Alumni Affairs to join the SC Johnson College of Business.

This exciting role engages recent alumni and drives philanthropic initiatives through strategic communication, volunteer management, and event planning. This Associate Director will manage all recent alumni volunteer groups, including the recent alumni advisory councils for each of the three schools within the College and recent alumni Reunion committees. This individual will partner closely with the annual fund team to ensure that recent alumni philanthropy initiatives align with fundraising objectives. The Associate Director will take the lead in driving and supporting various alumni events, which will include a focus on recent alumni engagement.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate robust interpersonal and organizational skills, capable of working both independently and collaboratively across various departments and leadership levels within the College, Alumni Affairs & Development, and Cornell at large.

The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (“College”) includes three schools: the Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration (Nolan), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson), and the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson). Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and implement a recent alumni engagement strategy on behalf of the College.

  • Drive strategic engagement and philanthropic opportunities.

  • Manage three recent alumni advisory councils.

  • Collaborate with key partners across the College, AA&D, and the University.

  • Collaborate with the Annual Giving Program to solicit volunteers and execute the process supporting peer-to-peer solicitations to achieve participation and dollar goals.

  • Serve as lead or support staff for events throughout the fiscal year that include a focus on recent alumni engagement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least three or more years of experience in alumni affairs, public relations, communications, development, fundraising, or related customer service-focused experience or equivalent combination.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across internal and external work teams.

  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
