Job Summary
The Global Medical Information (MI) Associate Director is the brand lead for a given product or therapeutic area and is responsible for managing all content related to Medical Information activities.
Job Description
- Acts as the global medical information subject matter expert for the assigned product and/or therapeutic area.
- Responsible for overseeing and providing strategic direction in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive global and/or regional medical response database
- Participates in the review and approval process for global and/or regional scientific response documents.
- Provides guidance to other medical information personnel on appropriate searching, review and interpretation of scientific data.
- Remains current on all published medical literature for the designated brand and competitors and subsequently performs a critical analysis to determine relevance of that data for inclusion into scientific response documents.
- Continuously review metrics on Otsuka products to assure relevance and need of scientific response documents.
- Provides product training to the contact center and collaborates with the contact center as needed for a specific brand.
- Liaise with various stakeholders and groups to develop and maintain timely and relevant product expertise
- Collaborate and communicate with Medical Affairs staff, participate in cross-functional meetings, and contribute to group discussions.
- Serves as an educational resource to both internal and external customers.
- Assists in the development/enhancement and implementation of policies, procedures, and processes for the department, as needed
- Assist in the management of medical information contractors.
- Receives, documents, and responds to written medical information requests, as needed
- Ensures completeness of responses and communicates them professionally, as needed
- Attends external medical conferences to represent Otsuka and staffs the Medical Information Booth as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Pharm.D, PhD or Medicine/Life Sciences Degree with a minimum of 5-7 years experience in clinical practice or pharmaceutical industry.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Medical Information
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Excellent medical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Must be detail-oriented with a proven ability to lead projects, multi-task, deliver on commitments and work with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred
- Residency/fellowship related to Medical Information
- Proficient in Information Request Management System (IRMS)
- Relevant therapeutic knowledge in Neuroscience, Nephrology or medical devices
