We are looking for an experienced Associate Director to join our talented math editorial team. We are seeking a team-oriented person who can balance troubleshooting issues that arise and proactively seek out ways to improve editorial quality and team efficiency while effectively managing oversight of product development from project discovery through project execution stages. Curriculum Associates has a proven record of developing top quality educational materials and solutions. The impact you’ll have: 

This position offers a highly motivated professional the opportunity to combine editorial and management skills to assist the Product Development team in taking a high volume of projects from conceptualization to final product as well as mentoring the editorial staff on best practices of product development. 

  • Serve as a thought partner with team leadership and editorial leads, developing components for our Grade K-8 programs from conceptualization to final production 

  • Lead and collaborate with team to define workflows, processes, guidelines, instructional design, and resource plans that ensure high quality content and best practice editorial processes are being followed throughout the lifecycle of a given project 

  • Actively participate in product definition, lead project planning, and participate in and manage working groups and research efforts 

  • Manage budget and resource plan throughout project 

  • Lead partnership with project management and editorial to develop and maintain schedule and workplan for all aspects of a project 

  • Partner with project leads and editors to ensure that all components are appropriately aligned, and documentation is clear  

  • Mentor and develop editorial staff on professional growth, team management, and product development  

  • Identify possible project bottlenecks and offer creative solutions working collaboratively with all project stakeholders to provide necessary information throughout product development (design, sales, production, marketing, implementation, etc…)  

  • Lead editorial team on their review and feedback to writers and editors (both internal and external), ensuring the feedback is actionable and the quality and appropriateness of content with respect to grade and reading levels, content accuracy, and pedagogical fidelity are met 

  • Effectively manage vendor/freelancer relationships and grow editorial team in their ability to manage quality and provide appropriate feedback and support 

  • Coordinate with Advisors and Stakeholders to support project-specific needs in collaboration with Product Managers.  

  • Work collaboratively to define milestones and multiyear planning for editorial teams, determining staffing needs and approaches to meet those needs, and supporting stakeholders with budget planning. 

  • Participate in focus groups with teachers and administrators 

Who we're looking for:

  • Experience leading teams of vendors, freelancers, and internal staff to deliver quality products  

  • Deep familiarity with K–8 Mathematics Standards  

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, while maintaining the quality of the product 

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Adobe and other general editing software  

  • Ability to move easily between big picture thinking and digging into details 

  • Proven writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail 

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills 

  • A team player who works productively and cooperatively with a wide range of people 

  • 5–10 years of experience in K–5 and/or 6–8 Mathematics educational publishing with experience in team management and editing print materials  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Elementary Education, or a related field required 

 

Not required, although we'd love:

  • Elementary or Middle School Math teaching experience 

Benefits and Pay Range:
Pay Range – This role’s range is $81,500. - $139,500. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that Curriculum Associates considers in making compensation decisions based on our Compensation Philosophy. Actual base pay within that range will vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At Curriculum Associates, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances for each case. This role is also eligible to participate in the company bonus plan. The Company recognizes that minimum wage varies by location and will ensure all compensation decisions comply with applicable state and local laws.
