Part of the Corporate Communications & Marketing Team, the Associate Director, Internal Communications will lead internal communications strategy and execution supporting the Commercial business ecosystem, including direct, aligned support for the CNS Business and Nephrology/Immunology Business senior leadership teams.

As the Associate Director of Internal Communications for our CNS and Nephrology/Immunology Commercial businesses, you will be responsible for leading the creation and delivery of innovative, compelling content and campaigns that bring our culture to life, communicate our initiatives, and drive business performance through steady, strategic, and connected internal communications. You will also be responsible for planning and executing inspiring and informative live events that engage our field sales and product marketing professionals as well as partners who work closely with them across our Commercial businesses.
Otsuka's Commercial senior leadership will look to you to serve as a strategic advisor who ensures enterprise messaging is pulled through across the Commercial ecosystem and the broader enterprise is kept abreast of the latest exciting field and marketing-related developments.
The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator, influencer and has a journalistic approach, superb writing and copyediting skills, and knows how to keep their finger on the pulse of the Commercial teams – individually and collectively – to drive great storytelling opportunities.
This individual will report into and receive day-to-day coordination and alignment from the Senior Director, Internal Comms and serve members of the CNS and Nephrology/Immunology Business senior leadership teams as their primary stakeholders.
Key Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive Internal Communication and Engagement strategies for the CNS Business and Nephrology/Immunology Business to support commercial growth and expansion through integrated and streamlined communication execution.
- Implement an integrated approach to internal communications strategy and associated campaigns that supports product brand, disease state education, therapeutic area narrative, corporate brand, and reputation growth.
- Create innovative and engaging internal communications campaigns to support new indication and product launches.
- Provide insight and strategic counsel, writing, and creating various forms of content on behalf of CNS and Nephrology/Immunology Business senior leadership.
- Alignment with Commercial Leadership Team (CLT) to ensure internal engagement strategy continues to support all Commercial business needs.
- Lead strategic design and content development, in coordination with internal and external partners, for large-scale internal engagement events, including:
- Fast Start Meetings
- National Sales Meetings (NSM) and Ecosystem Leadership Meetings (ELM)
- Regular CNS Business and Nephrology/Immunology Business Town Halls
- Other national cross-functional meetings
- Develop and manage internal communications channels for the CNS and Nephrology/Immunology Business teams such as emails, newsletters, and others.
- Identify, frame, and publish strategic stories that bring activities of the Commercial teams to life for an enterprise-wide audience.
- Strong alignment and coordination with Corporate Brand & Marketing creative team and management of PR/Comms and other creative agencies when and where required.
- Support the management of on-going change communications, ensuring that Commercial Business employees continue to believe in and demonstrate their commitment to those we serve.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate to ensure all materials are approved by key stakeholders, including Legal Affairs and Ethics & Compliance.
- Light graphics development and editing leveraging templates in easy-to-use software (will train).
Qualifications
Required:
- BA/MA degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing & Communications, or a related discipline.
- 10 years of experience in communications supporting a commercial pharmaceutical sales entity in a corporate or agency support role.
- Previous experience of creating and leading internal communications strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with people at all levels from center of expertise to senior stakeholders.
- Journalistic sense for creating great content, with the ability to identify key messages and interpret these for the wider audience.
- Hands-on, strong team player with a positive attitude and excellent oral and written English communication skills.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where individual initiative is critical.
- Calm under pressure, with a positive and resilient approach.
- Experience of driving corporate and product brand value and reputation through communications.
