Associate Director, Global Medical Communications

The Associate Director of Global Medical Communications will be primarily responsible for creating accurate and fair-balanced Global Medical Science Liaison (MSL) slide decks to educate and respond to medical questions on key therapeutic programs. The AD will lead slide deck MedComm planning, content creation, and review activities for the disease states and products assigned to them. Key partnerships will include regular meetings with the regional MSL directors, Medical Directors, and other cross functional partners as needed. The AD will manage a vendor to create Global MSL slide decks and oversee the development, timelines, and review committee submission. The AD will oversee the maintenance of Global Medical Affairs MSL slide decks by incorporating new significant data or relevant publications. In addition, this individual will provide high level training to internal groups in all geographic regions on the content of the decks. Other MedComm projects may become of importance over time
Work Model:
Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight of a chosen MedComm vendor for the creation and maintenance of key Global MSL slide decks for rare disease/products and other projects as needed
- Develop and update Global MSL slide decks with new data from congresses and publications in preparation for launches globally
- Provide accurate, complete, and timely Global MSL slide decks for upcoming launches
- Participate in Global launch planning teams by providing and presenting MedComm MSL slide deck launch strategy
- Work cross functionally with all Medical Directors, MSL/Field Directors, Global MI MC leads, Training Leads, Molecular Diagnostics, HEOR in all regions to ensure effectiveness and strategic alignment of Global MSL slide decks
- Meet regularly with MSL team in all regions to request feedback on content and effectiveness of MSL slide decks
- Coordinate the timely review of newly developed or revised MSL slide decks to support all MSLs in all regions in MRC and/or MARC
- Maintain and store MSL content including MSL slide decks for MSL team
- Create strong working relationships with Medical Directors, Clinical Dev/Ops, Patient Advocacy, Legal, Safety, Publications, Training, MSL/Field Directors, and Regulatory Affairs
- Oversee the Global MedComm tactical planning and budget for developing Global MSL slide decks
Requirements:
- Advanced degree required (PharmD, PhD)
- 7+ years of Biotech/Pharma experience in medical information, medical/scientific communications, creating global MSL slide decks and/or Rare Disease and Gene Therapy experience preferred or Industry Fellowship
- Global experience preferred; prior launch experience preferred
- Global Medical Communications/Scientific Communications experience a plus
- Knowledge of Regulations/Compliance in Medical Affairs
- Must be familiar with medical writing of Global MedComm MSL slide decks; creative acumen for ideas around graphics, animation, video, storytelling
- Must have experience in reviewing promotional and nonpromotional materials
- Excellent teamwork, leadership, and interaction skills to lead or participate on cross functional teams and interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders including vendors
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills and demonstrated ability to critically analyze scientific literature
- Multiple vendor management experience a plus
- An understanding of the pharmaceutical commercialization process and knowledge of legal and regulatory guidelines in order to integrate and apply feedback in a professional manner #LI-CS1 #LI-Remote

The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.
