Summary
Our marketing team is growing and we're searching for an Associate Creative Director who’s equal parts visionary leader and hands-on executor, with deep roots in design and an unshakable pulse on culture. Reporting to, and working alongside our Sr. Director, Brand and Creative, you’ll be instrumental in shaping how our brand shows up across every touchpoint. You’ll oversee the creative team’s output across design and copy and ensure it feels as dynamic and human as the science behind it.
Our current Creative team is a team of four (two designers, two copywriters) and functions as a full-service in-house agency. We deliver world-class storytelling and creative solutions that build awareness for GeneDx, improve our perception and create demand for our offerings.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead with vision. Own the guardianship and execution of our visual, tonal and auditory brand identity across all channels. Continuously find opportunities to improve how we show up on-brand and to ensure we resonate emotionally and culturally.
- Create, don’t just delegate. While you’ll be leading the creative team, you’ll also be hands-on in the work, jumping in when needed to design, write, edit and execute alongside your team. You’re a true player-coach who leads by example and produces high-impact work.
- Inspire and guide. Manage and mentor a small (currently 4-person) but mighty internal creative team, providing thoughtful direction and actionable feedback that pushes the work forward, ensures delivery against objectives and results in top-performing content and assets. Work with agency partners and freelancers to provide direction and feedback, and guide execution.
- Own the full ecosystem. Drive integrated creative across every format and medium, including web, print, digital, video, conferences, and long- and short-form content, ensuring best practices and insights are always incorporated.
- Know our audiences. Develop a deep understanding of our audiences and their journeys to ensure creative is audience-appropriate, insights-driven and effective.
- Collaborate cross-functionally. Partner with Product, Marketing, Sales and other cross-functional teams to execute on brief and business strategy, and translate complex science into simple, meaningful storytelling that connects.
- Create a collaborative team culture. Foster a culture of creativity, growth, and compassion that inspires excellence and collaborative teamwork.
- Build smart systems. Help evolve our creative process and resources to scale effectively, whether working with in-house resources or external partners.
- Think like a brand-builder. Help GeneDx stand out in the healthcare space with a brand that feels more lifestyle than clinical.

At GeneDx, we create, follow, and are informed by cutting-edge science. With over 20 years of expertise in diagnosing rare disorders and diseases, and pioneering work in the identification of new disease-causing genes, our commitment to genetic disease detection, discovery, and diagnosis is based on sound science and is focused on enhancing patient care.
Experts in what matters most.
With hundreds of genetic counselors, MD/PhD scientists, and clinical and molecular genomics specialists on staff, we are the industry’s genetic testing experts and proud of it. We share the same goal as healthcare providers, patients, and families: to provide clear, accurate, and meaningful answers we all can trust.
SEQUENCING HAS THE POWER TO SOLVE DIAGNOSTIC CHALLENGES.
From sequencing to reporting and beyond, our technical and clinical experts are providing guidance every step of the way:
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
- High-quality testing: Our laboratory is CLIA certified and CAP accredited and most of our tests are also New York State approved.
- Advanced detection: By interrogating genes for complex variants, we can identify the underlying causes of conditions that may otherwise be missed.
CLINICAL EXPERTISE
- Thorough analysis: We classify variants according to our custom adaptation of the most recent guidelines. We then leverage our rich internal database for additional interpretation evidence.
- Customized care: Our experts review all test results and write reports in a clear, concise, and personalized way. We also include information for research studies in specific clinical situations.
- Impactful discovery: Our researchers continue working to find answers even after testing is complete. Through both internal research efforts and global collaborations, we have identified and published hundreds of new disease-gene relationships and developed novel tools for genomic data analysis. These efforts ultimately deliver more diagnostic findings to individuals.
