OVERVIEW:
The Associate Attorney will provide legal services in connection with real estate development closings, ownership, and management of multifamily housing. We are seeking an experienced-(minimum 5 years) Real Estate Attorney, with extensive experience in the financing, refinancing and sale of existing portfolios and acquisitions. The Associate Attorney will provide support to General Counsel and work with Conifer’s Legal Team, as well as other Conifer departments (Development, Portfolio Management, Acquisition Management, Property Management, Compliance, Asset Management and Risk Management).
RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Close financing, re-financings, and sales as well as assist in acquisitions.
- In connection with investor buy outs, research consents needed, obtain consents of government agencies, draft, or review assignment documents, and close the transaction.
- Conduct legal due diligence for property acquisitions, including drafting purchase contracts, title, and survey review.
- Draft or review vendor contracts, easements, subordinate financing documents and other legal agreements
- Review construction, architect and engineer contracts, entity formation documents, organizational charts drafted by paralegals.
- Supervise filing of annual reports to keep entities in good standing, political contribution disclosures and semi-annual lobbying filings and trademark renewals.
- Assist in closing of Development projects.
- Conduct legal research on topics related to affordable housing, real estate, and other regulatory matters.
- Coordinate, manage other legal projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
5-8 years of experience as a Real Estate, Finance/Banking, Attorney. Significant transactional experience is required.
- 5-8 years, transactional experience in multifamily real estate financing and affordable housing preferred.
- Experience in low-income housing tax credits, tax exempt bond financing and property acquisitions is preferred.
- Proficient in legal research and writing and contract drafting ( LOI and MOU) as well as experience making verbal presentations.
- Proficient MS Office Suite skills (Word, Outlook).
- Demonstrated effective leadership skills.

- Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills with ability to meet deadlines.
- Flexible – able to prioritize projects, address issues as they arise and adapt quickly when needed.

- Resourceful; effective research and problem-solving skills, able to “think outside the box”.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Positive, outgoing attitude to fellow employees and third parties
Education/ Training:
- Juris Doctor
- Licensed to practice law in NY, NJ, MD, PA, VA, NC, SC, MA and or Fl.
The salary range for this position is $135,00 to $165,000 annually. The actual compensation may vary depending on a wide range of factors, including experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, location, etc. This range also does not include additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
