Assistant Director (Property Strategy)

£68,900 - £81,879 per annum plus excellent benefits

Parliament and the Palace of Westminster is one of the most iconic and significant estates portfolios in the world.  It is home to one of the busiest parliaments, operating on a World Heritage site which attracts visitors from all over the globe, with more than a million people passing through its doors each year.

Property and Asset Strategy team lead the strategic development of an integrated property and asset management approach for the estate, managing the lifecycle of the buildings, day-to-day corporate property management and providing advice to the Project Delivery and Maintenance groups. Property and Asset Strategy has a core of expert in-house technical staff providing continuity, direction and support to colleagues, consultants, and contractors, and represents the estate with key external bodies.

This role will manage the successful translation of customer requirements and asset data into an optimised, holistic property strategy. The wide remit will also include the capital delivery plan in addition to estate consolidation planning and execution, definition of the future physical office workplace environment and the initiation of projects within the defined strategy.  Two key responsibilities are:

  • Lead and manage Business Partnering for the built environment, communicating and relationship building with stakeholders, clarifying needs (demand) and commitments through consultation and consideration of consequences for the capital delivery pipeline.
  • Manage, develop and implement strategies for property including Parliaments strategic asset management plan, estate Masterplan & Development Framework (and sub-strategies) including carrying out property asset reviews of current and future supply and demand, and to underpin risk-based decision making.

The successful candidate will possess a proven track record in the management and development and prioritisation of a complex capital plan. Programme management expertise within a similar diverse estate will be essential. The role would suit individuals who thrive in the leadership of an in-house team (currently 11 FTE). The team includes Design Managers, Property Analysts and Interior Designers.
