Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our finance team. This role will assist the Controller in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting in the manufacturing environment, excellent analytical skills, and a collaborative mindset.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Financial Decision Making: Working with the executive team to guide the organization’s financial decisions, including special projects.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts, monitoring variances, and providing insights to improve financial performance.
- Accounting operations: Overseeing the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Accounting policies and procedures: Maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Audit and Tax Support: Facilitate internal and external audits and tax preparation, ensuring timely provision of necessary documentation and responses to inquiries.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies, assisting in the implementation of internal controls.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with operations, procurement, and other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Financial Systems: Assist in the maintenance and improvement of financial systems and processes to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
- Staff Management: Hiring, training, and retaining accounting staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of financial accounting management, preferred in the manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting and analysis. Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software. Prefer experience with SAP, AS/400 applications and reports. Advanced level in MS Excel and intermediate MS Word and PowerPoint proficiency.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Potential to move into the Controller role within the next 12 months.
