Job Description

HPC, Bridgwater (Hybrid working)

The Opportunity

Be part of one of the UK’s most ambitious and vital projects as we lead the rebirth of nuclear energy. At Hinkley Point C, we are building two state-of-the-art nuclear reactors, delivering low-carbon electricity to around six million homes. Join us as an Area Engineering Coordinator and take a key role in shaping the future of clean energy.

The Opportunity

As an Area Engineering Coordinator, you will work within the Nuclear New Build (NNB) Engineering Directorate, collaborating closely with the Joint Design Office on-site. You’ll play a crucial role in coordinating engineering disciplines to support construction in your assigned area, managing design deliverables, overseeing configuration control, responding to site queries, and ensuring seamless integration of design changes.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a competitive salary of £52,000, bonus and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing

Reviewing design packages and ensuring they are ready for construction.

Managing design changes, ensuring compliance with nuclear safety standards.

Coordinating interfaces and resolving open points ahead of construction schedules.

Collaborating with design, contractor, and construction teams to maintain technical quality.

Prioritising engineering tasks in line with site requirements.

Managing a small design team and acting as the key contact for a defined plant area scope.

  Who you are

We’re looking for someone with a background in Engineering—whether Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical—or in Project Management. You’ll need proven experience in a coordination role, with a strong track record of managing multiple workstreams and aligning teams to deliver complex projects.

Excellent stakeholder management skills are essential, as you’ll be working closely with various disciplines and external partners to ensure smooth communication and timely delivery.

Experience in civil or structural design, or with mechanical/electrical systems, is highly valued. A solid understanding of contract management, particularly NEC contracts and CDM regulations, is important for navigating the regulatory landscape and delivering projects safely and efficiently.

We’re also looking for someone who can lead teams, drive process improvements, and effectively manage design changes on site. Familiarity with BIM software—such as Navisworks, Tekla, or Revit—is a bonus, helping you stay ahead in a collaborative, digital environment.
