Remote with UK travel when required

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (dependent on experience)

 

Here at Serco, we’re seeking an Appian Database Developer to develop, maintain and support the MyTechnology Appian applications databases, including existing committed services and new project change. You will have a key role within the Appian practise as well as the business of our customers in supporting existing change and building new solutions.

 

In this essential role, you will deliver a robust and performant database solution with the Appian MariaDB Capability, meeting the requirements of both the existing business and future Appian projects. As well as, driving strategic direction delivering continuous improvements to Service, Development and Delivery. You will drive team success by creating a responsive and efficient database solution.

 

As part of this you will:

 

  • Be responsible for ensuring the current solution data set within MariaDB is optimal and that the database structure is reviewed and improvements are applied as and when necessary.
  • Be responsible for implementing and maintaining the database solutions across all Appian applications.
  • Deliver Appian services to our customer’s ensuring delivery is aligned to business objects and strategic direction.
  • Establish and implement metrics to report on the database performance and utilisation.
  • Be an active member of the Appian practise, working with the Appian development team to develop new and update existing database objects to support the onward development of the applications.
  • Implement ongoing design strategy of new databases to support new business.
  • Create and maintain required business data dictionaries.
  • Interface with the existing BI team to ensure that both solutions support each other. Demonstrating value of the service against best practise database design.
  • Have significant involvement in R&D of new techniques to improve current and new applications.

 

What you will need to do the role:

 

  • Be an expert in MariaDB or a similar RDBMS including the creation and optimisation of stored procedures and views with large volumes of complex data.
  • Experience with working with SAAS solutions.
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of database development on a continuously evolving database as well as on new projects, knowledge and capability of Agile tools and delivery.
  • Skilful communicator with excellent ability to build relationships at all levels and communicate well within a technical team.
  • Demonstrate the ambition to achieve goals/objectives and the discipline, organisation and perseverance to deliver.
  • Be able to work effectively across multiple projects.
  • Confident and experienced in working individually and as part of a cross functional team.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced, dynamic and complex environment and able to produce high quality documentation to support data and development.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills along with a high attention to detail.
  • Must be able to hold security clearance for MOJ and home office.
