The pay range is $71,000.00 - $128,000.00

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications. In close partnership with our merchant and sourcing counterparts, you’ll drive brand cohesion and continuity, ensuring that our products meet the merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction. 
 

As a Designer of Cut & Sew Knits you’ll be accountable for Product Design and Development with direction from your design leaders to achieve overall knits product design strategy and merchant objectives. You will utilize your proficiency/expertise in knits product design and development to achieve the following:

• Work with your Sr Design Leader to develop seasonal collections based on global and domestic trends. Drive and lead product research and design and development for category fabric, color, and silhouette.
• Be a cut & sew knitwear category expert, able to forecast category trends for the casual denim brand knits collection. Maintain Universal Thread brand cohesion.
• Continually push to innovate and enhance overall design, sourcing, and execution of knitwear product in line with Target Forward sustainability initiatives.
• Diligent approach to workload, maintaining good, timely communication with internal and external partners. Must have ability to work independently to hit deadlines and collaborate with cross-functional team to drive category efficiencies.
• Partner cross-functionally with the Merchandising team to maintain style counts that match the merchandising plan.

About you: 

• Demonstrate a love for Fashion knitwear, design, and market research
• Four-year degree in Design, Fine Art, or similar area, or equivalent experience 
• Minimum 3+years of industry experience in a strong national brand or knitwear leading business, knowledgeable about sales volume.
• Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop and Adobe Suite
• Advanced understanding of knit textiles, garment construction, raw materials & product production (including knitwear constructions and fabric weights)
• Knowledge of washed product execution for both optimal fabric hand feel as well as color loss.
• Commercial sense, market knowledge, ability to research and apply market/trend information 
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision 
• Ability to successfully work in a team environment 
• Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and cost-effective design solutions 
• Knowledge of the end-to-end product development processes 

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
