Animal Research Technician - Student

Department Overview:

We are a department in the School of Medicine and Public Health that specializes in animal research support and husbandry. We serve over 200 research investigators with animal research support.

Remote Work Eligibility Detail:

This work is to be performed onsite only. BRMS employees are expected to follow all current guidance related to COVID safety. All employees will be wearing proper PPE per campus and department requirements. All PPE will be provided. Social distancing is easily attainable in our department as well.

Anticipated Hours Per Week:

10-15 hours per week.

Schedule:

Variable hours available 7 days per week between the hours of 6am and 4pm. We will work around class schedules. Must be able to work summers and weekends.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

$11.00 per hour

Qualifications:

Must be a UW student or a student at a qualified educational institution. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Must be detail-oriented and have general knowledge of computers and email. Must be organized, use effective communication and able to be a team player.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Duties include changing rodent cages, stocking supplies, room maintenance, record keeping, handling research mice and tissue sampling for PCR (Polychromes Chain Reaction).

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time and to lift up to 50 pounds.
