Responsible for ensuring proper settlement of domestic and foreign securities and derivative trades executed in GWLA's general account, managed separate accounts, and the Great-West Funds. Supports the team staff to complete their tasks by providing coverage or helping create processes to mitigate risk and increase efficiency.
What you will do:
- Ensure internally executed trades flow properly from the Trading System to the Accounting system.
- Confirm trades with counterparties.
- Notify custodian banks of pending trade settlement and ensure that trades settle properly.
- Trade responsibilities will include the more complex asset classes such as processing and tracking TBA's & dollar rolls, bank loans, and derivatives. Analyzing the transactions related to these strategies and confirming accurate wires and settlement with the counterparties.
- Perform team support role, including process improvement, testing system upgrades and enhancements, developing trade messages for accounting system, and working with outside vendors for sub advised trade loads.
- Resolve trade settlement issues with counterparties with minimal supervisor assistance.
- Perform quality reviews for trades and security setups from the team, to ensure accurate processing.
- Process swap payments, communicating and confirming payment details with counterparties prior to settlement.
- Fund new private placements and bank loans, communicating with internal traders and legal group.
- Coordinate and process forward foreign currency contract settlements with multiple counterparties.
- Support the Manager, Settlements with resolving complex trade settlement issues, assisting in training new personnel and taking on additional duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. (accounting preferred)
- More than three (3) years of directly related experience in the investment administration area of a financial industry firm.
- Without a degree, an additional two (2) to four (4) years of directly related experience is required.
