Position: Heavy Equipment Grade Operator
Job Description:
The Heavy Equipment Grade Operator will be responsible for operating heavy equipment to support railroad track construction projects, ensuring that work is performed safely and efficiently.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
2–4 years of experience with heavy equipment operation.
Previous experience with rail construction equipment is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to operate a backhoe, front-end loader, and other heavy equipment.
Willingness to travel out of town to job sites for extended periods.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
Excellent communication skills in verbal, non-verbal, and written forms; strong active listening skills.
Ability to work well as part of a team, contributing to a positive and efficient work environment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks under minimal supervision.
Knowledge of laser and machine control is a plus, as well as experience in blueprint reading.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write clear and concise correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings to customers, clients, and coworkers.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but simple written or oral instructions.
Ability to address typical problems encountered in track construction.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
Certification required if operating on track controlled by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is a plus.
