Compensation: $25.00 - $30.00 / hour


Description

The Alumni Relations Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage and maintain relationships with camp alumni of the YMCA of Greater Boston Overnight Camps. This role focuses on building a strong alumni community, organizing events, and leveraging alumni support to benefit the camp's mission and programs. 

Key Responsibilities

The Alumni Relations Coordinator will ensure success in the following areas of responsibility to support a strong Y Experience: 

1. Alumni Engagement 
  • Develop and execute outreach programs and initiatives to keep alumni connected and involved with the camp 
  • Develop and manage alumni mentorship programs 
  • Coordinate alumni volunteer opportunities 
2. Event Planning 
  • Organize and manage alumni events, including reunions, networking events, and volunteer opportunities 
  • Create connections to the YMCA of Greater Boston Board of Advisors for potential committee and board members 
  • Organize and execute the North Woods 100th and Pleasant Valley's 60th Anniversary celebrations in 2028 
3. Communication 
  • Create and distribute newsletters, updates, and social media content to keep alumni informed and engaged 
  • Utilize communication platforms effectively 
4. Database Management 
  • Create, maintain, and update an alumni database for outreach and relationship building 
5. Fundraising Support 
  • Collaborate with the executive director, camp directors, and YMCA of Greater Boston development team on fundraising efforts 
  • Participate in specific fundraising campaigns and initiatives 
6. Collaboration 
  • Work closely with camp staff and leadership to align alumni relations activities with the camp's goals and mission 
  • Foster relationships between alumni and current campers/staff 
7. Accountability 
  • Monitor, track, and report alumni engagement metrics to assess the success of initiatives 


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Education/Experience:
Qualifications- desired but not required. We take an equitable and holistic screening approach. If you feel you have demonstrated experience and expertise relevant to perform this role. 
  • Bachelor's degree preferred 
  • 3-5 years of experience in camp or alumni relations, event planning, or development work 
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills 
  • Experience managing databases and using communication tools 
  • Deep understanding of summer camp culture; alumni status preferred but not required 

Skills and Competencies:
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the nature of the YMCA movement, volunteers, and staff in the accomplishment of the YMCA goals, objectives, and mission in the community. 
  • Knowledge and building strong relationships that strengthen the role that camp plays in the individuals life. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem solve and possess effective time management skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing environments.
  • Ability to effectively motivate an individual and a community.

  • Ability to physically and verbally interact with members and staff.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment/Schedule: 

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 
  • Some weekend and evening work is expected, with the flexibility needed to be available if needed for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
  • This role is hybrid, which would include working partial on-site at camp during summer and for events 
  • Local travel necessary for events, trainings, and meetings
