Advocacy Content Strategist - Remote

As a member of the ACS CAN Alliance Development team, the Advocacy Content Strategist is an experienced professional who will lead writing about ACS CAN’s work to share with perspective donors and partners, ACS and ACS CAN team members and volunteers. The primary responsibility of this position is to independently conceptualize the narrative of ACS CAN’s impact highlighting ACS CAN’s mission, purpose, activities and impact through funding proposals and other donor communications Work will include overall project management, convening subject matter experts, content development and strategy, advanced budget development, and customizing donor-centric approaches.The Advocacy Content Strategist maintains a robust collection of ACS CAN focused collateral materials and content and continually builds out and refreshes donor facing materials to support development efforts.
***This is a remote position that can be home-based anywhere in the United States. Strong writing skills is necessary for this role.***
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead content development to meet donor needs for organization-- – translating internal programs of work and/or new program concepts into donor facing cultivation and solicitation materials.
Collaborate with ACS CAN and ACS team members as subject matter experts to articulate and package content that provides clarity about organization purpose and outcomes.
Influence processes inside the organization to collect data, analyze impact and define narrative of ACS CAN success.
Develop and write content for various ACS region updates about ACS CAN’s work; including staff and Area board communications. Formats to include emails, PowerPoints, infographics and talking points. Requires the ability to both work with team members to gain information as well as synthesizing that information.
Serve as a lead proposal writer and convening partner for principal-level Philanthropy staff working with institutional foundations, family foundations, and individuals. Requires an understanding of the specific voice of philanthropic writing, including a strong focus on storytelling and donor-centric prose; serve as a thought partner to gift officers during project request intake and throughout the process.
Develop sales materials to help ACS development staff to fundraise for ACS CAN.
Collaborate with Advocacy Communications staff to ensure consistency of message and adherence to brand standards to foster consistent look and feel of designed materials.
Other duties as necessary to complete donor communications and drive enhanced communication with donors directly from ACS CAN and/or through ACS contacts.
FORMAL KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor’s Degree, plus at least 7 years’ experience writing for donors. Preference given to individuals with experience in advocacy focused and/or health-focused writing.
Candidate must have superior grasp of copywriting and grammar.

Must have excellent written and analytical skills in order to shape ideas and concepts into sound proposals and updates about ACS CAN’s work.
Candidate must also have the ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate advocacy initiatives to a general audience.
Superior communication, organizational, project management, strategy development, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build relationships with team members and funding program officers are essential.
SPECIAL MENTAL OR PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Limited travel may be required.
The starting rate is $62,000 to $75,000 annual. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
