Summary

The Advisor, Global Hunger Crisis Project at Save the Children US (SCUS) within the Department of Humanitarian Response will serve as the primary focal point for engagement with this standalone project. You will manage the full life cycle of the Global Hunger Crisis Project ($50M budget) and be instrumental in supporting Implementing Offices (IOs), including country, regional and technical teams, ensuring donor compliance and successful implementation, and be responsible for meeting donor deadlines and deliverables. The Global Hunger Crisis Project is an 18-month, strategic global award requiring a unique support structure. You will liaise with relevant internal stakeholders, particularly in finance, compliance, and technical teams, problem-solve to ensure the overall health of the award and escalate issues as needed. In coordination with management, you will represent SCUS at internal and external meetings for information sharing and discussions around response-related initiatives, challenges, and support, and provide strategic and operational inputs and analysis.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties) 

Department and Humanitarian Leadership (15%) 

  • Serve as SCUS lead on the Global Hunger Crisis project, leading and/or participating in coordination calls, and acting as SCUS point person on the response, working closely with DHR and International Programs management; responsibilities on prioritized responses can include: 
    • Represent SCUS on internal response update calls or in external fora, such as InterAction working groups or with institutional donors; 
    • Review response strategy and coordinate feedback aligned to SCUS priorities; 
    •  Liaise with internal stakeholders on fundraising of private resources, including coordinating information requests for private funding proposals
    • Lead cross-functional coordination for high-risk awards or high-priority responses, as needed; 
  • Serve as the operational focal point for applicable area of expertise related to complex, strategic projects. Tasks may include: 
    •  Develop tools and systems for training IOs and other key stakeholders; 
    • Lead in developing best practices, sharing resources, to improve performance and sustainability across the humanitarian team;
    • Identify trends, best practices, and challenges with this donor or focus area; 
    • Propose solutions and ways forward to advance engagement with focus areas at the operational and strategic levels. 
  • Play a key role in continuous unit improvement efforts, taking the lead on specific improvements as identified/requested. 
  • Other key strategic work as determined appropriate with department leadership
