The Job: Advisor, Board & Committee Governance

The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.

Starting Salary Range: $70,856 - $88,570

Reporting to the Director, Governance, the Advisor, Board & Committee Governance is a pivotal role responsible for providing comprehensive support to the Board and various committees within Doctors of BC. This position involves managing the preparation of Board and Committee meeting materials, including agenda compilation, meeting support, minute taking, and meeting follow-up. The Advisor, Board & Committee Governance also acts as a key liaison for Board members and external partners, and supports the organization’s election processes, corporate record maintenance, and compliance with bylaws and governance policies.

Additionally the Advisor, Board & Committee Governance plays an integral role in educating and mentoring senior administrative staff and other staff supporting committees. This includes offering guidance on governance best practices, committee processes, and how to handle complex issues with tact and diplomacy. The Advisor, Board & Committee Governance serves as a first point of contact for resolving conflicts pertaining to operational governance matters, ensuring clear, consistent communication and providing effective solutions. They are expected to collaborate with the Director, Governance and senior leaders on various initiatives and maintain a strong focus on ethical standards, bylaw compliance, and organizational transparency.

The Advisor, Board & Committee Governance is also responsible for overseeing the execution of governance operations projects, including process improvements and the development of standard operating procedures. The role requires a high level of judgment and critical thinking to anticipate challenges, manage multiple priorities, and ensure governance structures are aligned with strategic goals. They will engage with a variety of partners and interested parties, ensuring satisfaction and promoting diversity and inclusion initiatives. Ultimately, the Advisor, Board & Committee Governance plays a key role in strengthening governance frameworks, advising on legislative compliance, and enhancing overall committee operations and effectiveness.
