The Role at a Glance
As an Actuary on the Life Financial Planning team, you will work with a highly collaborative team to create, review, communicate, and continuously improve the detailed Financial Plan for the Life business unit. You will interact with and synthesize information from a variety of areas within the company, such as Valuation, Modeling, Investments, Reinsurance, Experience Studies, Product Development, Expense Management, Financial Analysis, and Corporate Finance. You will play an integral role in providing insights and analyses to senior management and other key business partners that help drive strategic decision making and improve the understanding of the drivers and trajectory of Life’s financials.
What you'll be doing
- Compile, transform, and organize model output and inputs from various teams and sources into a comprehensive and detailed STAT and GAAP Financial Plan for the Life business
- Compare projections to recent actual results to ensure the projections are reasonable, and make sound, supportable adjustments to the projections where necessary
- Perform attribution analysis to investigate and explain how and why results change or differ by comparing projections to actual results, new projections to prior projections, and projection periods over time
- Improve the quality and understanding of inputs into the Financial Plan process by investigating, reviewing, and validating actuarial models, reinsurance deal models, and other key sources
- Identify and implement improvements to streamline the Plan process to reduce workload and enhance the quality and access to information used for Plan
- Collaborate and communicate with a variety of teams to ensure the most accurate and up-to-date information is being used for Plan from their area of expertise, and share impacts to Financial Plan relating to their team
- Consolidate information from Plan into summarized templates and presentations with the appropriate level of detail for a variety of audiences, up to and including senior leadership
What we’re looking for
Must have:
- 7+ years of actuarial experience with actuarial credentials (ASA or FSA)
- Experience in actuarial modeling and/or valuation experience in MG-ALFA
- Experience in reviewing and assessing the appropriateness of complex models
- Experience with VBA, Python, or other programming languages preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Substantial life product knowledge and general insurance business knowledge
- Strong understanding of regulatory and accounting frameworks (Stat/GAAP/Tax/RBC)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- History of innovation and process improvement
Nice to have:
- Experience working with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau)

The pay range for this position is $108,501 - $195,900 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
