The Opportunity: The purpose of this role is to support business units in achieving profitability by performing actuarial calculations, providing qualitative and technical support in product development, financial analysis, and management reporting, and demonstrating increasing independence in managing work tasks under the guidance of senior actuaries/pricing specialists.

  • Location: New York City (55 Water Street, NYC), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, or Chicago highly preferred

  • Work Arrangement: This role is preferably a hybrid role, where you will be expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week. However, for the right candidate, fully remote is a possibility

  • The starting salary for this role is between $105,000.00 and $180,000.00

Your New Role:

  • Responsible for carrying out assignments or projects, performing actuarial analyses, investigations, and modelling.

  • Demonstrate judgement in setting assumptions and understanding the impact on key profit drivers and performance metrics.

  • Utilize complex computer modelling techniques to complete actuarial research and analysis.

  • Develop relationships with internal stakeholders and demonstrate a general understanding of business units and support functions.

  • Provide technical advice and guidance to less experienced actuarial staff.

  • Document changes to calculations and procedures in a timely and clear manner.

  • Conduct regular reviews of pricing, valuation, and reporting techniques.

  • Take initiative to recommend changes to actuarial assumptions or processes.

  • Engage in recruitment activities and help develop more junior actuaries.

  • Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Preferred Experience

  • Actuarial degree or degree in other mathematically focused area.

  • Significant experience in an Actuarial or Analytics department.

  • At least some experience in the general insurance industry.

  • Moderate experience in a specialized product area or specialized task area (pricing, valuation, monitoring, budget).

  • Experience in an analytical role.

  • General experience of working within the Actuarial function in a multinational financial services business.

Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate’s professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE’s annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance. We encourage all candidates to apply, even if their salary expectations fall outside of this range, as we are committed to finding the right fit for our team.
