At this time an Actuarial Analyst (P&C) (Remote) is needed to be responsible for adding value to the Risk Management team by managing and analyzing data, running reports, making recommendations, and providing insight in the evaluation of risk for the products offered by Portfolio. The Actuarial Analyst will assist in actuarial functions within the organization such as trending, modeling simulations, and projections. The Actuarial Analyst works collaboratively with the Risk Management team to cross-train on the creation of rate cards, database management, watchlist, and reserve increase tracking. The Actuarial Analyst is well versed in the business and the various product offerings provided and conducts detailed analysis of industry trends for proactive rate management.
- The Actuarial Analyst (P&C) role can be worked remotely. Portfolio has a headquarter base in Lake Forest, CA. * Travel to Portfolio's home office, or office locations in TX and/or OH may be required.
- Applicants (CAS) with their ACAS designation and/or on the ACAS designation route will be considered for interview
- The successful passing of at least (3) exams completed through the Society of Actuaries is a required.
- The successful passing Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) Exam 3 is highly preferred: MAS- I
- Paid study time, exam resources and exam testing will be considered for those committed to earning their ACAS designation.
- Applicants must have at least 3 years' working experience as an Actuarial Analyst and/or within a professional analytical environment.
- Applicants must possess a solid working knowledge of SQL, Power BI, Power Query experience.
- Mathematical inclination is a requirement for this role.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (business hours), flexibility to work outside of these times is preferred.
Compensation: $70,000k - $100,000k + annually based on experience. Exceptional Benefits Package!
Essential Functions:
- Manage specific internal and external client requests via SQL or Power BI to provide requested reporting on trends, exposure, comparisons, and rate recommendations. Work with the field to enhance existing canned reports and data cubes as desired.
- Query data and provide initial recommendations for recurring reviews summarizing risk exposure by product, reinsurance company, dealership, etc.
- Prepare documentation by product, reinsurance company, dealership, etc. that supports reserve changes. Supply Sales with additional documentation as needed.
- Assist in the audits of claims to validate adjudication is adhering to contract underwriting guidelines.
- Prepare reserve and coverage comparisons between our programs and those of our competitors and supply a thorough report of the results. May include independent research or analysis of additional data.
- Create reports and dashboards using Power BI to assist the team in meeting their goals.
- Assist in actuarial reviews for internal domestic captives as well as for the company-wide audit.
- Provide consultive actuarial support to the Director of Risk Management and Risk Analyst as requested to mitigate risk on the company’s portfolio and establish appropriate actuarial justified reserves for new and existing programs.
- Create reports and presentations for executives, managing directors, agents, and dealerships that summarize a plan to mitigate their risk.
- Cross-train on the development of rate cards, management of watchlist, and tracking of reserve increases.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
- 3 years of experience as an actuarial analyst, or related experience.
- Successful completion of 3 or more CAS actuarial exams and a commitment to achieving ACAS
- Proficient in Excel and SQL.
- Ability to exercise discretion and apply actuarial judgment.
- Knowledge of Automotive Finance & Insurance products.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple interruptions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Requirements:
- Previous experience in the Automotive Finance & Insurance industry.
- Proficiency with R programming language.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or any other business intelligence tool.
