The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is the nation's leading cancer advocacy organization. Together with our charitable partner, the American Cancer Society, we work in Congress, state legislatures and local jurisdictions to support evidence-based policy and legislative solutions designed to eliminate cancer as a major health problem.

The Stanislaus Tobacco Prevention Action Team (STPAT) is a project of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), focused on promoting awareness of tobacco-related issues and supporting local policy action to address these issues.

The California Tobacco Prevention Program (CTPP) funds the project to establish a comprehensive Tobacco Retail License (TRL) in Modesto and Turlock.

As an intern, your role will involve:

  • Creating local policy change

  • Supporting outreach and education on tobacco prevention,

  • Managing social media posts,

  • Advocating for cancer health disparities

  • Co-facilitating presentations

  • Creating presentations, flyers and newsletters on Canva

Internship Program Guidelines

  • Summer 2024: July 15 - September 6

  • Work 15-20 hours per week

  • Hybrid, in-person, some evenings and weekends

  • Professional growth and responsibility

  • Leadership skills

  • Become and Ambassador for ACS CAN

The starting rate is $16 to $18 per hour. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
