Mineralys Therapeutics is a publicly traded, clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing medicines to target diseases driven by abnormally elevated aldosterone. Our initial product candidate, lorundrostat, is a proprietary, orally administered, highly selective aldosterone synthase inhibitor that we are developing for cardiorenal conditions affected by abnormally elevated aldosterone, including hypertension and chronic kidney disease.

The Accrual Specialist is a critical member of the Finance team, responsible for leading the accrual process across all operational functions, including Clinical Research & Development, G&A, and Supply Chain. This role ensures accurate, complete, and timely accruals for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes in accordance with U.S. GAAP. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry and will be a key liaison between Clinical Operations, external CROs, vendors, and external auditors to ensure accruals reflect the company’s operational progress and financial obligations. This role supports audit readiness, compliance, and contributes to a robust internal control environment in a high-growth, publicly traded setting. This remote position is based in Colorado, with regular bi-monthly, in person meetings with the Finance team in the Boulder region.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the end-to-end accrual process, including the preparation, review, and posting of monthly R&D, and G&A accruals.
- Work closely with Clinical Operations, Research, Supply Chain, and other internal teams to ensure accurate and complete accrual estimates based on study progress, milestones, and service agreements.
- Liaise directly with CROs and vendors to obtain supporting data for accrual calculations and validate estimates in accordance with service-level agreements.
- Lead quarterly and year-end financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate accruals aligned with audit requirements and internal reporting timelines.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors during audit and review procedures related to accruals and related financial statement disclosures.
- Partner with the FP&A and Accounting teams to reconcile accrual estimates with budgets, forecasts, and actual spend.
- Implement and enforce policies and internal controls related to accrual processes to ensure SOX compliance.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve and streamline accrual processes, systems integration, and cross-functional workflows.
- Monitor contracts and purchase orders to ensure alignment with actual services delivered and accurate financial recognition.
- Support system optimization and automation of accrual processes, especially within NetSuite and integrated planning tools.Skills and Attributes:
- Deep technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP with a focus on accrual accounting for R&D and clinical operations.
- Strong understanding of biotech industry operations and cost drivers, especially in relation to CROs, CDMOs, and clinical trial vendors.
- Demonstrated experience supporting external audit engagements, preferably with a Big 4 firm.
- Strong proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERP systems; experience with financial planning systems is a plus.
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proactive, independent, and process-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Experience in building and managing financial accrual models and supporting documentation.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with Clinical, Legal, FP&A, and Procurement teams.
- High level of integrity and commitment to ethical financial reporting and compliance
Travel:
This position requires up to 10 % travel. Frequently travel is outside the local area and overnight.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a minimum of 3–5 years focused on accruals in the life sciences industry.
- Demonstrated experience in managing accruals related to clinical trials, R&D, and vendor contracts.
- Experience working in a public company with SOX compliance and audit readiness responsibilities.
- Strong technical experience with NetSuite, Excel, and accounting/reporting systems.
- Track record of successfully managing deliverables in fast-paced, high-growth environments.

Actual compensation may vary from posted hiring range based on geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
US Salary Range:
$120,000 - $140,000
