Salary: $70,000 - 80,000/yearThis position allows for 2 days per week remote / work from home. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Accounting Manager to join our nonprofit organization. The Accounting Manager will oversee the financial activities of the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements. This role will manage a team of accountants and work closely with other departments to provide accurate financial information and support organizational goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit accounting, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to our organization's mission.
Responsibilities
- Financial Management:
- Manage all aspects of the organization's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, GAAP, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure financial stability.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance and support in their day-to-day activities.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting professional development and growth opportunities for team members.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to enhance productivity and effectiveness.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management, board of directors, and external stakeholders.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making and strategic planning initiatives.
- Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop accurate and realistic budgets.
- Monitor budget performance and variance analysis, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Prepare financial forecasts and projections to support long-term financial planning and sustainability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, fund accounting, and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
