What will you be doing?
Circana is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Accounting Director to join our Americas Accounting team. This role is pivotal in developing top talent, optimizing accounting processes through automation and technology-driven solutions, and ensuring best-in-class financial operations.
The Accounting Director will collaborate closely with the Global Controllership team, Financial Reporting, FP&A, Internal Audit, and Human Resources to drive a seamless monthly close process and maintain compliance with internal controls.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with:
- Extensive experience in IPO readiness, public accounting, and public company financial operations
- A deep understanding of accounting operations, US GAAP compliance, internal controls, and process improvements
- A track record of successfully managing change, driving high-performing teams, and executing strategic initiatives in complex environment
This role is instrumental in bridging strategy with execution, ensuring excellence in financial processes while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
This role involves leadership responsibilities, including managing a team of ~6 professionals.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the Americas month-end and year-end close process to ensure timely, accurate, and complete financial reporting.
- Review and post journal entries, ensuring proper documentation, accuracy, and adherence to US GAAP and company policies.
- Drive the automation of accounting processes and procedures to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives in accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting frameworks.
- Oversee and review account reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with US GAAP.
- Provide data-driven financial analysis to identify trends, explain variances, and deliver actionable insights to leadership.
- Ensure accounting policies are clearly communicated, enforced, and updated to align with US GAAP.
- Partner with internal and external auditors to support audit readiness and successful audit outcomes.
- Play a key role in the BlackLine Global implementation, improving reconciliation efficiency and accuracy through system enhancements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure system integrations align with accounting and reporting needs.
- Maintain an effective control environment, ensuring financial close processes have well-developed, properly functioning controls. Identify and remediate internal control deficiencies.
- Develop KPIs and data visualization tools to measure performance and present key financial insights.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Identify skills gaps, implement training programs, and provide ongoing feedback to enhance individual and team performance.
- Act as a key stakeholder in financial transformation projects, process optimization, and change management.
- Champion Circana’s strategic initiatives and lead the team to achieve department-wide goals.
- Develop and deliver training materials to drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and team performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required.
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3-5 years in a leadership role, with public accounting and public company experience.
- Proven ability to lead teams in challenging or transitional environments, demonstrating adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, evolving landscape.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance.
- Experience scaling accounting functions through automation and process optimization.
- Proficiency in Power BI, Alteryx, Coupa, Concur, NetSuite, BlackLine, Monday.com, and Workiva is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the capacity to convey complex financial concepts clearly.
- Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and drive implementation.

Location
This position can be located in the following area(s): Remote, USA with flexibility to work business hours in the Central Time Zone.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $164,000.
This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
