JOB PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Accounting Analyst is to support the accounting function at Energy 1, perform data analysis, prepare financial and other reports, enter AP and AR, and job cost analysis. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Efficient and accurate entry of accounts payable, credit cards, customer payments, and bank transactions. 
  • Reconcile monthly vendor statements and prepare for payment, including lien waivers, online payments and employee reimbursements.
  • Coordinate missing receipts and/or job coding with vendors, project administration, and management.
  • Perform regular internal financial audits (operating GL, balance sheet, payroll liability), prepare monthly- and quarterly- financials reports, analyze budget vs actual trends, and assist with bi-annual board member reporting.
  • Data analysis and preparation for year-end taxes, insurance renewals and audits, R&D tax credit, and other ad-hoc reporting and analysis as needed. 
  • Participate in the month- and quarter-close process for multiple entities.
  • Tracking and documentation of company assets, including fleet, tools, furniture, and for preparing any related property tax reports. Responsible for keeping the company debt listing updated.
  • Working with Construction Operations, review job costing, help prepare and analyze WIP, and analyze trends in department and project profitability, analyze payroll and efficiency trends, and other data analysis as requested.
  • Track AR past dues, monitoring for lien rights and reporting to management as needed. Will prepare and file liens as directed.
  • Maintain subcontractor data in the accounting system, verifying that all information is accurate and obtain necessary documents for annual audits.
  • Process applications for new vendor accounts and update/maintain authorized to charge lists.
  • Register Energy 1 entities in new states and maintain existing entities, monitor renewals, file annual reports and keep all records updated.
  • Other tasks may be assigned by the Accounting Manager, Director of Finance, or other leadership team members, including but not limited to, employee ownership program reporting, IT data tracking, accruals, project-accounting assistance, and other data analysis or accounting support tasks.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two or more years of experience with AP / accounting required.  
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.  Must have demonstrated experience working with and analyzing large datasets (60k+ rows), Tables/Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Index/Match, IF/IFS, OFFSET formulas, and graphs/charts. SQL/Query experience, or ability/desire to quickly learn.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting or Data Management.
  • Preferred: Construction accounting, job costing, and multi-entity accounting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: talk and hear others both physically present and on the telephone; sit and stand; move, use hands to operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The physical environment requires the employee to typically work 40 hours per week in an office setting. 
  • This position may be in-office (with flexibility) from one of the following office locations: Bozeman, MT, Jackson, WY, or Grand Junction, CO.  Open to qualified remote candidates in the Mountain Time Zone, with preference given to employees residing in Southwest Montana, Idaho Falls, Northern Utah, or Western Colorado. 
  • This position is hourly non-exempt and may be requested to work occasional overtime.  
  • This position may be requested to travel to multiple E1 sites as the need arises but there is minimal/no travel expected.
