Job Description

Manulife Investment Management Services (MIM) is a farmland property management business with offices in Turlock, California and Savoy, Illinois. Its subsidiary, Manulife Investment Management Agriculture Services (MIMAS) is a direct operator of farms in California, Washington and Wisconsin. Together, MIM and MIMAS provide farm management services for Manulife Investment Management Timber & Ag as part of MIM’s integrated farmland investment management platform for institutional investors. 


Job Profile Summary


The role, under supervision of the Assistant Controller, is responsible for conducting moderately complex financial, accounting and economic analyses, including journal entry preparation, detailed calculations and internal and external reporting. Duties may include assisting in the preparation of journal entries by compiling, analyzing, and substantiating financial transactions as needed, reconciling accounts as requested, assist in month end/quarterly/year end close process and reporting; annual audit, including year-end schedule and financial statement preparation and assisting with tax and regulatory reports.

Essential Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing intermediate to advanced accounting activities.   
• Attention to details and ability to analyze data.
• Works on semi-structured assignments based on existing practices and within guidelines.
• Compile ad hoc accounting and analyses for other business partners
• Assist with internal and external audits
• Assists managers and other team members on various projects and analyses
• Assists with month end/quarter end/year end process.
• Prioritizing and reprioritizing work deliverables and projects based on changing business needs
• Makes recommendations for process improvements.


Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience
• 2+ years of experience with a proven track of increased responsibility.
• Fixed Assets knowledge/experience desired, but not required

• Demonstrates a working knowledge of accounting rules, regulatory rules and/or business processes as it pertains to the accountant's sphere of responsibility
• Demonstrates broad based analytical and inquiry skills to understand financial activity and statements.
• Effective interaction and communication skills to communicate issues to management and collaborate with colleagues.
• Strong computer skills and an intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel
• Effectively work in a fast-paced working environment
• Possesses a professional attitude that is coachable and willing to learn and grow.

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

USA, California - Full Time Remote

Salary range is expected to be between

$50,475.00 USD - $84,125.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
