THE JOB: Accountant (18 Month Contract)
The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.
Starting Salary Range: $80,066 - $100,083
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant works within the FMB Department on a team of 22 staff. The Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of accounting and preparation of financial statements for the Government Funded Programs, liaising with Program staff regarding financial related transactions and processes to ensure reporting and variance analysis is accurate, assisting Government Funded programs with their annual budgeting process and providing support utilizing Planful software, preparing lead sheets and working papers for the year-end audits while liaising with external auditors and preparing various analyses as required.

- Supports others in achieving deliverables by efficiently allocating resources and providing common organizing systems, techniques, and disciplines.
- Maintains a proactive work review and approval process prior to assignment completion. Solicits internal and external customer evaluation of performance and devises measures for improvement.

- Knows the internal and external factors that impact financial resource availability.
- Allocates and manages financial resources transparently.
- Ensures compliance with legislation, policies and practices applicable to the appropriate and effective use of financial resources.
- Takes a lead role in preparing budgets and forecasts for projects and initiatives.

WHAT YOU BRING
- A CPA accounting designation plus 3 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of financial and accounting (NetSuite and Planful preferred) systems.
- High level of computer literacy including comprehension of Windows based systems, advanced Excel skills, and email.
- Internet capabilities; understanding of web-based processes.
- Fluent in English.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks, balance priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
