Position Overview
The Academic Review Specialist will examine academic records during the registration process, ensuring students are appropriately placed in grade levels based on prior academic records and transcripts. This contract-based role will liaise with parents and school districts to obtain any missing information necessary for the comprehensive enrollment of students in Texas.
Essential Position Functions
- Articulate the school's mission and vision to ensure a common understanding among stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with parents and teachers regarding enrollment requirements, grade level placement, and academic expectations.
- Facilitate enrollment approvals by reviewing academic records, including report cards and transcripts.
- Monitor daily student enrollments to expedite approval processes.
- Ensure the academic review process is swift and efficient, adhering to enrollment criteria.
- Liaise with parents and school districts to obtain any missing academic records required for enrollment.
- Assist in collecting academic records for final review and approval.
- Maintain confidentiality on all job-related matters.
- Provide information to parents about school policies and procedures.
- Promote high expectations for student performance and behavior.
- Participate in establishing and maintaining a positive school climate.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- Understand and support the Stellar Virtual mission and values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Participate in in-person state testing, if needed
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Experience working with students, parents, and educational agencies.
- Background in student enrollment, academic advising, and related fields.
- Familiarity with relevant federal, state, and local laws.
- Understanding of school-specific regulations, guidelines, and state/local enrollment criteria for public schools.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time-management abilities, attention to detail, and capability to work independently.
- Experience reading student transcripts and determining grade level
- Experience as a school counselor or registrar preferred
- Bilingual preferred but not required
- Effective consultation skills for engaging with counselors, school districts, parents, and students.
Education & Certification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, or a related field (preferred).
