GENERAL FUNCTION: 

The Senior Collateral Analyst is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the collateral and loan information for their assigned portfolio either in a primary or backup capacity. Also works with underwriting to review documentation and reporting capabilities for new customers to ensure a smooth on-boarding process.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): analyzing Borrowing Base Certificates (BBC) and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with the Loan and Security Agreement; calculating ineligibles and monitoring complex and special asset loans and escalating anything out of the ordinary course of business to the appropriate people; processing of advances, collections and collateral updates; invoice review and processing; participation settlements with syndicate members; follow-up and resolution of past due interest / fees and reporting delinquencies; and daily interface with the borrower and internal operational units.

The role is responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and analyze Borrowing Base documentation for accuracy and completeness and to determine collateral availability; reconcile differences and input values into appropriate systems.
  • Include analyzed accounts receivable and inventory in the Borrowing Base packages provided to Relationship Manager/Portfolio Managed for review.  Communicate any findings that are out of the ordinary course of business.
  • Update appropriate systems with Borrowing Base Collateral information and BBC dates.  Process advances and payments.
  • Reviews collections received in the Cash Collateral Account and ensures accurate application on the collateral monitoring system; monitors daily borrowing availability and processes advance requests of customers; ensures all appropriate authorizations / approvals are obtained in accordance with policies and controls.
  • Develop and maintain a solid working relationship with customers on all questions.  Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Make sure P&I payments are taken timely.
  • Work with Syndicated banks regarding collateral and loan processing and documentation.
  • Perform collateral monitoring for the Special Assets Group and other complex loans.  Assist the Relationship Manager/Portfolio Manager:  escalate suspicious/inconsistent activities to mitigate risk.
  • Backup peers while maintaining own portfolio that is up-to-date and well organized.
  • Provide on-the-job training and assistance to Jr. Collateral Analysts.
  • Operate within the Bank's risk appetite.  Keep the customer at the center of everything you do.
  • Keeps knowledge current on operational procedures, systems and controls.
  • Complies with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • 3-4 years prior collateral analysis/loan monitoring experience.
  • Proficient in basic applications; Microsoft programs, as well as internal systems; Stucky, AFS, ACBS, ACE.
  • Excellent attention to detail, clear and effective communication skills, organized and thorough.
  • Ability to work in a face paced environment and not afraid to ask questions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise prudent judgment to make decisions affecting both customers and the bank.

Compensation: 

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the US. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
