2025 User Experience Research Intern

PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $18 - $25/hr hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.  For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE: 

As a User Experience Research Intern at BECU, you’ll play a key role in shaping how our products and services meet the needs of our members. You’ll support user research efforts by conducting usability studies, surveys, and data analysis under the guidance of senior UX professionals. Your work will provide valuable insights that drive intuitive, accessible, and user-friendly design solutions. Through collaboration with designers, strategists, and cross-functional teams, you’ll gain hands-on experience in human-centered design, helping create seamless experiences that make a meaningful impact. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

• Uncover User Insights: Conduct usability studies, surveys, and research activities to gather valuable user feedback that informs product design and development. 

• Analyze & Synthesize: Organize and assess research data to identify key user needs and pain points, translating findings into actionable recommendations that enhance user experience. 

• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work alongside senior researchers, designers, and product teams to integrate user insights into product strategies and ensure user needs are met at every stage. 

• Create Research Artifacts: Assist in developing personas, journey maps, and experience maps to help visualize and communicate user behaviors, needs, and challenges. 

• Share Findings with Impact: Present research outcomes in clear, compelling reports and presentations to help stakeholders make informed decisions. 

• Support Continuous Learning: Observe and participate in research reviews, learning how to communicate goals and incorporate feedback to refine research quality. 

• Document & Track Progress: Maintain research documentation, track UX metrics, and evaluate design solutions to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. 

• Champion Human-Centered Design: Advocate for user needs by bringing their perspectives into discussions, ensuring products align with usability and accessibility best practices. 

• Stay Ahead of Trends: Keep up with UX industry trends, tools, and methodologies to continuously apply innovative insights to your work.

QUALIFICATIONS  

   

Minimum Qualifications  

 

• Currently enrolled full-time in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Human-Computer Interaction or Information Science, or an equivalent degree. 

 

• Knowledge of qualitative user experience research methods, usability testing tools, or survey platforms commonly used in UX research.
