Internship Overview

OpenSesame seeks passionate, driven students to join us for a paid summer internship program. Suppose you’re intelligent, curious, and full of fresh ideas. As an engineering intern, you’ll tackle real-world projects, contribute to impactful solutions, and collaborate with teams across OpenSesame to drive innovation and growth.

Guided by Extreme Programming (XP) principles, we thrive on collaboration, pair programming, and iterative development to deliver reliable, scalable, and impactful technologies.

Our engineers partner across teams and departments to tackle real-world challenges, designing and building tools that adapt to the ever-changing needs of our customers. Fueled by a passion for innovation and a culture of continuous learning, we’re redefining what’s possible in eLearning technology!

Performance Objectives

2 Weeks

  • Pair program with team members to gain hands-on experience and learn our development processes.
  • Participate in team discussions about tools and technologies while contributing to brainstorming sessions.
  • Begin learning the technologies we use, such as Typescript, React, Terraform, and AWS, through direct collaboration with the team.

30 Days

  • Work on individual and team software engineering projects, contributing to production-ready software.
  • Actively participate in all team meetings and events to understand how different departments collaborate.
  • Suggest improvements to team processes and workflows based on your observations.

60 Days

  • Take ownership of individual tasks and contribute independently to team projects.
  • Share insights and knowledge about the latest technologies and tools, contributing to team learning and growth.

Additional Program Details

Dates:

  • Start: Tuesday, June 17, 2025
  • End: Friday, August 15, 2025

Commitment:

  • Full-time (40 hours/week) for 7 ½ weeks

Compensation:

  • Standard: $25/hour

Fully Remote Role: Interns must have a personal computer and access to high-speed internet during working hours.

Opportunities and Expectations: As a summer intern at OpenSesame, you’ll have the chance to grow your skills through training courses and meaningful work. You’ll also participate in enriching program events, including learning opportunities, networking, community service projects, and book club discussions. 

Additionally, you’ll collaborate with other interns on a group-led project that will have a real impact.

Interview Process: After the initial resume review, selected applicants will be invited to complete a creative project of their choice—such as a video, vision board, writing sample, or website—to showcase their skills and answer questions about why they’re interested in this opportunity and what makes them a great fit. This will be followed by interviews with our team.
