2025 Summer Intern, Fuels and Energy Security (Bachelors, Remote)

ICF supports government and private-sector clients in efforts to sustain the supply of energy to consumers across the country. ICF is seeking a summer intern to support our energy team in the areas of electricity, petroleum, and natural gas markets and infrastructure. You will contribute to the development of innovative, analytical, high-quality products and services, including energy-related emergency planning and response. The team’s primary services involve conducting research, data analysis, and modeling to support policy analysis or to develop energy insights to inform decision-makers at the Department of Energy or State Energy Offices.
Our consulting engagements typically integrate critical energy infrastructure studies, energy market fundamental analysis, resource assessments, and economic analysis to provide advice on energy market trends, regulatory issues, and investments. ICF’s clients include federal, state, and local government clients and commercial entities.
This is a full-time, 10-week internship beginning in early June 2025. Work may be conducted fully remote from any U.S. location. At this time, we are unable to offer relocation nor housing assistance for this position.
Responsibilities:
Provide research, analysis, technical writing, and reporting on specific technical issues
Collect and analyze data for modeling or analytic projects. Create maps of energy infrastructure and dependencies
Prepare for review updates of critical energy infrastructure systems in preparation for the 2025 hurricane season.
Monitor markets and the key regulatory bodies in order to identify the prospects of changes in regulations and other market-related developments that may affect the nation's infrastructure
Participate in hurricane and other disruption responses that may impact the energy supply chain.
Create written documents that convey key analytic findings for distribution to internal/external clients and/or present findings verbally to clients.
Basic Qualification:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Climate & Meteorology or Economics with an anticipated graduation of August 2025 or later
Preferred Qualifications:
A strong a desire to understand how energy supply chain works.
The ability to work in a collaborative manner
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
