2025 Summer Intern, Commercial and Industrial Energy Programs (Colorado State Impact MBA Graduate, Remote or Hybrid)

ICF is seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated candidate to help clients implement and evolve their energy efficiency, decarbonization, and sustainability programs. This position will be remote or based in our Reston, VA office in a hybrid work environment. Successful candidates will support the implementation of high-profile public-private partnership programs to drive improved energy efficiency for communities, commercial, and industrial markets and contribute to a clean energy future. They will be part of a team that builds and maintains relationships with key market actors and collaborates with other team members and clients to develop national, regional, and community strategies to increase participation in sustainability, climate change resilience, clean energy, and/or energy efficiency programs. We will work with you to identify a project that matches your interest.

This is a Colorado State University Impact MBA Internship position. Our 2025 Summer Internship is a 10-week, full-time program that generally begins in early June and concludes in mid-August. The intern may work fully remote from a U.S. location, or a hybrid schedule (generally 1 day per week) from our Reston VA office. At this time, we are unable to provide relocation nor housing assistance for internships. Pay for this position will be at $28 per hour.

Potential Responsibilities

  • Supporting the review and analysis of large volumes of program data, in order to support core program processes, ensure program integrity, and distill data into narratives for reports, case studies, etc.

  • Supporting the delivery of technical assistance to communities or commercial and industrial clients to support their clean energy transition.

  • Reviewing energy consumption data for single buildings as well as large portfolios of facilities, to assist building owners in benchmarking performance against peers, improving performance, and achieving recognition for energy efficiency achievements.

  • Working with technology teams to test and implement technology solutions.

  • Contributing to the development and deployment of communications, outreach, and training resources, including case studies, webinars, in-person events, and other opportunities.

  • Coordinating with other team members and clients to develop local, regional, and national strategies to influence the market and increase participation in programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an MBA at Colorado State University’s and within the Impact MBA program.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated interest or experience in sustainability, clean energy, decarbonization, and/or energy efficiency or the building sector; particularly in stakeholder engagement, commercial or multifamily buildings, greenhouse gas accounting, carbon management, or related sectors.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and highly-developed interpersonal skills and self-motivation.

  • Experience writing reports, articles, case studies, or other communications materials.

  • Excellent analytical and research skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under strict deadlines with strong detail orientation.

  • Demonstrated expertise working with large spreadsheets or databases.

  • Solid personal computer skills (Microsoft applications).

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$41,614.00 - $70,744.00
